Most likely you saw "edmonton" and was like "I know where that is."
Well if you know where edmonton is and are able to walk, drive or fly here to have a night of practice, discussion and fun regarding Starcraft 2 with other players and people who love the game; then this is your thread
My names Archaic, tQArchaic to all the haters and i wanna stir up the starcraft Edmonton community into hanging out and practicing the game in a less "competitive atmosphere." Most likely the venue will be "absolute power" (http://www.apgaming.net/)
We've got lots of tournaments here in edmonton and calgary and it seems like the top players usually end up duking it out after getting rather easy rides to the end of the brackets. So this is me saying lets stir up the scene and start developing some new talent. If your bronze to masters post here and lets meet up! If you need help ill make sure we have a resident "top" local player for each race show up so we can help you out and give you some free lessons! If you want to learn the game or show some friends the game in a layed back atmosphere bring them and lets have some fun enjoying the best game out here!
Tentative date for the first get together is Febuary 3rd at absolute power gaming centers

LOL it was kinda like that face mixed in a little FUUUUUUUUUUUU and you got it.
This is gonna be happening by weekly so im sure people will be able to make some and not others.
kcaz 6 pool is easy to handle as protoss( if you scout on 9 pylon like i do), the trick is handling it without over reacting and letting the zerg player just drone back up to match you in worker count.

There are lots of players in Calgary (myself included) though many are university students and do their activities through the U of C club. Though there is a channel on battle.net where many of us spend time and offer coaching or games for any one who stops by. Its either U of C or Calgary.

As for Thursday, I work until 8:00pm again this weekend, and as it's St. Patrick's Day, I'll be going out for some drinks... Besides, I'll see ya'll on Friday night for some GSL action.

Eh my biggest problem is that APgaming or w/e is on the legit OPPOSITE side of edmonton from me. It'll be like an hour drive, and my parents definitely won't let me be out that long, let alone for gaming (they would murder me) If it's at a destination say closer to downtown Edmonton, I could be one of the I guess tutors? (3800 Masters in Season 1)

I pretty much have the same problem as this as I live on the far south side of the city.... any chance we could do weekends or something?
Also ... why don't we all just go to the edmonton channel when we're on bnet next time and try to make it a place we can hang out on bnet?

There really isn't anywhere else in edmonton that can even pretend to handle our numbers and the only other LAN center is in West Ed.
Central would be awesome but there just isn't anything since Apocalypse gaming shut down (was like 4 blocks from GMac) so we use what we have. Also AP is the Lan center that we know and they give us member rates, sooo that's pretty cool.
As for holding it later/earlier in the week we have thought about moving it to friday and I would probably be alright with Wednesday if it worked for more people. As for Saturday I personally think it wouldn't work more often then not due to Tourneys that many people attend in Edmonton and Calgary.
Lastly, I'm sure this will be going on for a long time to come. Edmonton is only starting to heat up for esports and StarCraft.

I am thinking that since school is finishing up in 2 weeks for me I am gonna start spending way more time gaming and this would be something that I would be really interested in. I live downtown and I have a car and would not mind driving if anybody els wants to carpool. If anybody is intersted in saving a few bucks PM or leave something in this thread. Really looking forward to practicing with you all

The only thing we have that is edmonton specific is Edmontongamers.com which is run by our friendly neighborhood Shiro, he is also responsible for (almost) all the tournies of any competitive game in Edmonton.

I went to the one on the 19th, was mostly just meeting some new people, playing sc2 with them, and chatting about sc2. Was actually quite fun

Hey guys so I'm sad to announce the end of these practice / get together sessions
It's fitting to have our most successful event be the last
Absolute power (the LAN center) is closing their doors effective the end of the month
Without a proper place to hold these events it seems it's time to move on to bigger and better things
Just as to not leave these on such a sour tone I have contacted over clocked (new LAN center opening next month) about running events and the owner has responded rather positevely, but as far as these get togethers I am not planning onresuming these.
Instead I will be launching an Edmonton based Starcraft 2 team in conjunction with a new cross city league that is starting up.
It was a great honor to game with you all, and I hope to see you all at the tournaments.
