TomCruise here, take me off the list. I don't think anyone realizes how ridiculously senseless this 2 day tournament idea is. Judging from the tournament organizers' posts, I wouldn't be surprised if they're blind to reason at this point with their naive paradise they have planned.
This tournament is near-macabre with the imposition of the nametag rule and also various suggestions of personal introductions that make for a sickening social experiment. I don't understand this and never will , as I live in the real world where people choose with whom they speak and losers know they're losers.
Perhaps one day, the organizers will come to realize they have a moral obligation to the sc2 players of NJ and PA(especially Philly) to host a more feasible tournament as unfortunately we have no LAN competitions to go to in our respective areas. New England has theirs , and even VA has theirs. Now I can conclusively say that NY has THEIR own tournaments as well. Bravo.
What bothers me most about my not going is how I perceive the tournament organizers here to be feeling self-important to be the hosts of this tournament. Wake up, this is not the GSL , MLG, or WCG. There is nowhere near enough computers and first place gets only $100. It would be a huge loss of hard-earned money to go for 2 days.
I'm really disappointed and I know a lot of other people are as well. I can understand if I get banned from future tournaments for this post , but I don't mind as long as my view is seen. TomC

Tom, you're going to have to tone it down a little. Between this and the thing on Oprah's couch, people are going to think you're nuts.

Stupid stuff like this makes you go nuts

You are literally the only one who has an issue with it. We've run like five tournaments over one day and have concluded that there's nothing wrong with two days. While I agree that the tournament organizers are not brilliant, they do their job and do it well enough so that everyone has a ton of fun.

lol, they have a moral obligation to you? I actually thought that post was some kind of inside joke until people started to respond seriously.

Fuck you man. You have no idea how much of their own time, money, and work Lisa and Sterling put into running this shit. They have no "obligation" to anyone, they do it because they want to. Without them the nyc tournament scene would be close to non-existent. If you think you can do it better, then go ahead and do it. If not, then stfu and deal with it. Your not forced to come, and don't post this kind of shit like you know what your talking about because you obviously don't.

Totally agree with Zow here.
TomC, I really don't see why you couldn't have done any of the following, all of which would be infinitely less disrespectful and rude: 1) Kept your (rather unreasonable) complaints to yourself 2) Made a constructive suggestion 3) Kept this to PMs, instead of publicly flaming two people who have been working tirelessly to put together quality LANs 4) Organized your own tournament, setting it up in whatever way you think is better for people in NJ and PA

Mr. Cruise, as you so call yourself, ( I have no idea why someone would represent themselves under someone else's name) By attempting to make a mockery of this event you have labeled yourself as a douche bag. You are trying to criticize an event which is based off of other previous events which have proven both successful and enjoyable to those who have been in attendence.
assuming from your post that you are from either NJ or PA, good luck finding other's who would have happily accepted you into this community, as we are a social group just as much as we are a SC2 group. If you cant deal with both then surely you can go to google and find a bunch of people who sit in the dark by themselves and play video games..... for the most part this does not describe those of us who are active here....
By calling the social aspect of the event sickening and showing your distaste for name-tags, you have done nothing short of revealing yourself to be just as much of a real life troll as you are a forum troll.....

The nametag rule is more so you know your opponent is ready. If you know who to look for, you know if they're sitting down or walking around in the vaguest sense...if they're ready to play. I don't think i really use the nametags to talk/call people over or anything. It's more of just knowing if people are ready or not and to ask them if they want to start the next game.

If you wouldn't mind sharing how many people, if these people are signed up or not, if there's an overwhelming drive from the players of the tourney to do something differently, then it may be something to be considered by the admins of the tourney, i would assume.

Is the name tag provided when you get there? Or is this something we have to have before getting there?
