Is there an official stance on people registering with player names?
I ask because I just noticed someone with the ID IMMvp, who I'm pretty sure is not actually the gsl champion. Since it isn't unheard of for a well known or professional player to register here, it seems a little odd.

Further proof that you are delusional. You need to go back to grade school for an Introduction to Business. Now scram before I report you.
This is TL.net, not kindergarten. Keep your petty insults to yourself.
More importantly: nobody (not even mods) is entitled to have his way in a debate by threatening mod action. This is blatant abuse of the report function, and for that I'm removing your reporting privileges.
I know I just warned you for misusing the report function; that was before I saw this post. The warning is superseded by this ban.
- Can a single event of report-button misuse be considered severe enough to have one's permission to report removed? I mean, there's a fairly cut-and-dry limit to how abusive a misused report can be (using the report function on someone with the sole intention of revenge or some malicious motive), but is that alone always enough grounds to remove one's reporting privileges? If it's an isolated event, such as a guy who has an otherwise good reporting history, and yet for some reason enters Hulk mode and abuses it, is that grounds for removal? And if the report button is taken away, is there ever a chance for the guy to redeem himself and get the button back?
- JWD mentions that the warning he sent StarStruck was superseded by the ban posted above. Is this always the case? If the warning and ban are for the same thing (like a "so-and-so mod was too nice for warning you, this deserves a ban" scenario), is the warning simply expunged from the user's record, or can you "double up"?

He said he warned him before he saw that post, so it definatelly looks like it wasn't a one time thing. They weren't both for the same post, because he also said it was him that warned him.
I know your question seems to be in a more generic way, but it looks like it may have been deserved in this case. I also don't remember another ban like this one.
I think saying "scram before i report you" is a good indication that you are not worthy of having a report button. I don't think there is a clear cut line but I'm guessing that guy is way over the blurry line on the wrong side. What is considered "report button abusing" anyways? I recall mods saying better to report too many than too few. I also want to know if a year or something of good behavior would redeem his report button. + Show Spoiler +
saw your post in the ban list too but decided to respond here.
1) Yes, and especially now that there are so many posters eligible to report posts. We manage report privileges like we hand out bans: one as-bad-as-it-gets infraction and you can be blacklisted. As with bans, there's some window to undo the damage and earn back the privilege. But with so many good reporters, the window is really small.
2) I can't guarantee this is always the case, but if a user is "double warned" or warned and then banned for the same activity (either because two mods act simultaneously or new info comes to light) then I always edit that user's history to make it extra clear that the user only made the one offense.

The general consensus is that no one gives a shit about tdot. He's not worth paying attention to, since the only thing he has going for him is persistence. All in all, he's a fairly unremarkable individual.

Can't they just be put into a lightning round Double Secret Probation instead? It'd be way cooler. Then they could have troll fights with tdot.
Just sayin, we need something to hold us over till TSL4.

While I agree with you fine sir, I do browse the Automated Banlist thread, and seeing him getting banned always put a small smile on my face. I miss my little dose of sunshine every so often

PS love the ban thread keep it rolling.
PBU stands for Previously Banned User, I guess from that you can tell why that's bad and you don't have a report button yet because you haven't been here for a year.
1. Previously Banned User. We ban them for a reason and don't enjoy seeing users re-register and think they can post right away again. 2. You probably don't fulfill the requirements as far as being a member for however long it is (1 year I think)

Have you/can you do this for me? I was warned then 2-dayed for doing something stupid before.
