Or will it? Dun Dun Dun.
I almost expect it to completely ignore your birthday icon and give you NULL or something never before seen icon.

Nah, that was sarcasm. I watch horror movies, but most of them end up sucking or are pointless, haha. :p

Im sure this question has been asked before, but how do the vast majority of tl's staff avoid becoming disillusioned with sc or sc2? do the games never seem to just blur together? Don't you get tired of seeing the same three albeit diverse races act out the same steps again and again in varying orders? I mean as a casual spectator Im not involved enough in the sc2 scene for things to grow stale, but the majority of you guys have dedicated your lives to this game, do you never get even a little bit bored of it all?
Now I know that sc and sc2, as great as they are, were just the foundations upon which you built your community (or scene/ world/home) but don't the players ever get tired of game after game, cheese after cheese, pvp/zvz after pvp/zvz? Don't the mods ever get frustrated banning the exact same lame/offensive posts that they've been banning for the past decade? And when your at your absolute lowest as a direct result of enduring what could be(at its worst) this eternal mind numbing monotonous tortures repetition, do you ever feel like you've built your life on a tin platform atop shallow waters?
When that does happen, what brings you back? Your friends? The community? A single good post or a hilarious ban? That perfect macro game or an absolute denial of cheese? Is it the drama or the appreciation of your favourite players? Or, and I really hope this isn't the case, is it just the fact that you've put to much effort into the world of Starcraft and you feel like theres no turning back. I would never try to undermine the staffs faith in game, I just find it unlikely that all of you are immune to the cruel realization that the game is sometimes just that, a game. And when that happens I'd like to hear about what gets you back up on your feet.

The community is more addicting than the game in my opinion.

I went through my replays folder not too long ago and I have over 10,000 replays, probably about 2/3 of which I have played, accumulated over about 9 years.
Starcraft has had it's times when I'm bored out of my mind. Where every game just seems to be the same. I end up taking breaks for a month or two, and I play just 1 game and I'm back in it. The excitement and ambition to always better myself overcomes and I begin playing with my teammates and I remember how much fun it is to talk with people who share a similar passion and desire to learn and improve.
My job is fairly easy and takes very little time on TeamLiquid. Even though I may not watch every game from GSL and end up using the live report threads to figure out the winners, when I do watch the games I enjoy watching people who take my passion and desire to learn to a whole new level. The professional scene is always inspiring.
I think I have visited TeamLiquid almost every single day since 2004. The community is amazing. There's always new drama or characters that just want you to know what will they do next.
Right now, TeamLiquid and the esports as a whole is very exciting. Before Starcraft 2, TeamLiquid was a very small niche of broodwar players. So small in fact I remember when TeamLiquid got linked on FighterForum (now afreeca) and we had an influx of a few hundred koreans that literally made the site lag so hardcore. we had like 400 people logged in at the time and the servers couldn't handle it.
esports is no longer just a korean industry with a few first person shooter teams. It's becoming world wide, and it's a huge invert of just 3 years ago. Every day I'm amazed at how the scene is growing, and it's always awesome to see new teams gain sponsors and new tournaments come up. We used to have 4-5 events on the calendar a week. Now that number has multiplied so drastically. eSports is growing and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Sorry for the little tangent. But the scene drags me back every day, the people, the passion, the skill, everything about it is amazing. I'm glad I was here 7 years ago, and I'm glad I'm here today. I hope I'll still be glad to be a part of the community in ten or twenty years to come. I'm waiting for the topic names to be "I'm retired with a large pension. What should I do?" And everyone replies to go to korea and watch the finals of starcraft 3! Boxer will be cheering on his son is in the finals!"

I actually have pretty much played ten or so SC2 games in the past year. I'm not into it at all, and I don't keep up with the scene. I don't really get frustrated with banning posts, though, because I view TL more of a general forum (my only forays into the SC2 forum/SC2 Strategy forum/etc. are when I go in to act on mod reports), so keeping the bad/low quality posts out directly benefits everyone. I actually find the level of discussion on TL to be quite good, which is what keeps me coming back to the forums.
Haven't played BW in over a year, although sometimes I still watch it (because I find it much more engaging than SC2, to be honest...shhhh!). I'll probably end up buying D3 though, haha.
EDIT: I'm probably one of the staff members that cares the least about SC2, so you should probably get some input from others XD

thanks for the thoughtful as well as somewhat heart warming reply C.A. SC has and still does act as a solid foundation for the community, but its everything that you and others have layered on top of the game as well as associated with it (like how your experiences with the game correspond directly to the memories of you and your friends simultaneously enjoying and building the sc/tl- scene/community together even when it was little more than the size of a thumbtack) that makes the whole of sc/sc2 a self sustaining perpetual generator of entertainment.
That cant be the only motivation though, Id kinda like to hear a few more answers to the question, but if they don't come than I'm still more than grateful for C:A's reply, thanks C:A.

Emp, what makes TL worth returning to though? What about the conversations do you associate directly with TL. Do posters on Tl have a unique quality? And Is that quality in the posters what keeps you coming back to the site?
