Buy-in: None. (Players pay individually for their time at the netcafe.)
Prize: $70 for first place, $40 for second place, $30 for third place
What's going on
Once again, Cybercraft has kindly sponsored a Starcraft 2 tournament This time, we're switching it up and playing with an iCCup map pool! Be aware that our iCCup map pool is not identical to the official iCCup monthly map pool.
Tournament 2.0 Patch Notes (for people who attended the previous one)
+ Show Spoiler +- Consolation (loser's) bracket implemented.
- Prize pool increased to $140.
- Map pool temporarily changed to iCCup maps.
- Tournament starting time is now 1:00PM.
Tournament Rules
+ Show Spoiler +- Each player is responsible for their own time/account at the netcafe ($4/hour or $3/hour with membership). If you run out of time in the middle of a game, it is an automatic loss.
- Players must wear their name tags during the tournament.
- There will be NO walk-in sign ups. However, spectators are very much welcome.
- Players will check in from 12:00PM to 12:45PM. The tournament starts at 1:00PM and all technical problems should be resolved beforehand.
- The tournament will be double elimination.
- Games in the winner's bracket will be BO3 on iCCup Match Point unless the players can agree on another map. Loser picks the next map.
- Games in the loser's bracket and the 3rd place match will be BO3 on iCCup Sangsu Crossing (unless another map can be agreed on), with the loser picking the next map.
- Grand finals will be two sets of BO5 on iCCup Enigma. The winner from the loser's bracket must win both sehttp://challonge.com/zyo9sts in order to claim first prize. The winner of the winner's bracket only needs to win one set.
- Map pool is limited to:
- iCCup Enigma
- iCCup Valhalla
- iCCup Fighting Spirit
- iCCup Neo Avalanche
- iCCup Sangsu Crossing
- iCCup Shanshorn Mists
- iCCup Match Point
- Players may not switch races between games. Random players must play random the entire way.
- No spectators are allowed in-game.
- Bad manners will not be tolerated.
- There are a lot of breakable doodads at the netcafe. You break it, you buy it.
Lag/Disconnect Rules
- If battle.net mass disconnects before the finals, all games will be replayed by default.
- If battle.net disconnects during the finals, the games will be replayed at the discretion of the hosts. A decision will be made with input from the audience.
- If there is an unplayable amount of lag on your computer, pause the game and ask a host to check the state of your lag. The game may be replayed if the lag is caused by the computer. Games will NOT be replayed if the player lags because they set the graphics settings to ultra/ultra.

IMPORTANT!!! READ THIS!!!
This is a StarCraft 2 Tournament
The first thing you do when you walk in is check-in with me! I will be holding a blue clipboard and will direct you to where you need to go. It is vital that you remember who I am because I will be the main person managing the tournament as it goes.
Note:
+ Show Spoiler +At 12:50pm I will hand the clipboard off to btway for a brief period because I have to register for classes at the event. During that time, you should report everything to her until the clipboard is back in my hands
All players must check in with me before they start their match as well as report the results to me after the match. That way I know when a match is in progress and know when a victor has emerged. If you report results for a game that I was did not know was in progress, the results will be scrapped and the series will be replayed
There are a lot of changes between this event and the last, make sure you know what is going on
Do NOT be late
+ Show Spoiler +Check-in ends around 12:45pm (That is an hour earlier than previous events) Make sure you are checked in with me as soon as you come in. Anyone NOT checked in with me by 12:45pm will be dropped from the tournament and replaced. Everyone on the back-up list is recommended to show up because there are always people who are late and you guys are the ones who will be replacing them. Even if you don't get spot in the tournament it is still a great place and opportunity to meet new players and make friends.

Maps are limited to the selected ICCup maps
+ Show Spoiler +To find the maps for the tournament, search ICCup in the search bar for map selection and use the maps that are an exact match the ones listed in the map pool. Games played on maps not in map pool will not count.
Bring In-ear headphones
+ Show Spoiler +Games will be casted and players in those games must wear noise canceling headsets that we provide. Players MUST bring their own in-ear headphones to wear with the provided headset to eliminate all spoilers of the match in progress.
Do Not Offensive GG
+ Show Spoiler +Excessive BM and offensive gg'ing (gg'ing for your opponent) is grounds for disqualification and physical punishment. No excuses, if you are reported for offensive gg'ing you will suffer the consequences.
If you are having technical issues call one of the tournament hosts over and we will try to get things up and running as soon as possible
Lunch break is yet to be determined, chances are I will tell you in person when you have time to go on lunch break or make an announcement at the event about the lunch break.

I don't know where you can download the maps but its best to just search for them in-game,
at cybercraft you will have to search for them to make a game so its best to get used to that and know where to find the maps when you need them

There's going to be a huge emphasis on ONLY reporting the results to Certified this time around. I'll be updating the online brackets in real-time, but we don't want any confusion when it comes to organizing the loser's bracket.

if you show up early we can test the quality of it and see how it goes, if it doesnt interfere with anything and isnt in the way then there shouldnt be a problem with letting the laptop record output audio
only problem is it might echo cuz the casters are gonna be sitting up front by the speakers
cant be very good quality and theres gonna be cheering when stuff happens too

ICCup maps are average, blizzmaps are small. Match Point is actually pretty average, I'd say FS/Enigma/Sanshorn are biggest. At least it makes it VIABLE to play defensive instead of ending game off 2base.

I don't think it's fun to watch 200/200 4base games every time, but I do think it's more fun to have more diversity in gameplay style - currently Terran basically is not viable past 2base on most maps.

TvZ, it's mostly due to larva inject becoming so good as the game goes on while MULE just gets weaker. TvP, yea once protoss has all tech in play + mass warpgates makes it very hard to harass or fight them straight up

cuz this is mainly community thing, we can put it in tourneys but we prefer to have fun as friends with some good competition
all this originated over the summer when btway and I went to Amnesia's (hope im spelling that right) lan and we had a great time and everyone was cool
only problem with it was the location so we found cybercraft and we threw a lan event cuz we wanted to have fun before school started to get serious and things just took off from there
we do these events for the community and for fun, competition comes second

To add to that, it's also not streamed, so It's impossible for people not already AT said event to care or be involved (Though It wouldn't be completely impossible to stream, it more depends on what Cybercraft is willing to let us do.)

It has to be on a weekend to accommodate for the people who have work on weekdays.
It probably shouldn't be during finals week to accommodate for college students.

December 18: In the middle of finals week (for CUNYs at least)

nice, sounds pretty cool. I mean it doesn't get much better than Cybercraft but i'm sure there is a bigger venue somewhere in New York that we can find. No I'm not referring to anything in Manhatten... just a thought. Also I don't think any of us have any qualms about having a buy-in. Seeing as it will give incentives for more people to come and have the tournament even more competitive than it already is.

Most likely 64 with loser's. You overestimate the amount of people that trickle in after the first 48 hours of sign-ups.

I was actually talking more about sponsorship for prizes. I'd like to see some cool gear go to the winners, rather than just pure cash. Of course, if we get a smaller business sponsor, we could just promote them during the live casts and have a larger cash pool.

I know other tourneys I've been to usually have good luck with local gamestop's and other tech stores. I've even been to a CS tournament sponsored by an Apple store, winning team got like ipod nanos or something.

Ehh, no worries at the moment, there's a place by my house that does good looking metal trophies of an appropriate size for 35 bucks, free engraving. So in the short run, there'll be no problems on the trophy front, but I'll keep that in mind.

if you make a membership (its like 20 dollars i think), you get discounts for additional hours. you also get 5 hrs included when you sign up for a membership. and then you can purchase 5 hours for 10 dollars after that (instead of the 4 dollars and hr)

Well if the computers are also connected to the speakers couldnt you put the live caster input as the mic and put the Mics on listen on the computer so that sounds come out the speakers? That way theres sound on the stream and we can use traditional headsets for the casters. The only issue is setting 2 Headsets as the default device or routing 2 Headsets to the speakers and livecast...

Again, I'm not sure if the computer's connected to the speakers or if the TV screen's sound is rerouted to the speakers. Will look into it asap.

Also just found that Procaster is more awesome then i ever imagined. It allows multiple inputs so yeh thats all set. Also yeh if the computer can come out of the speakers its a simple matter of putting the mics on listen mode and it'll all play through just like the microphones we were using. If anything it'll be better cause the casters can have headsets letting them control the screen. Odds are i'll check over there sometime during the week to see.

This in particular is something I wanna look into. I just wanna make sure the casting would even work first before trying to get the details worked out. No point in setting up casters and graphics and others if the actual casting doesn't work out =P.

Last time I got there at around 9 and I just told them I was going to set up for the tournament, they didn't have a problem with it at all and I was able to walk right to my computer without any problems.

I dont think people are thanking btway enough for all that she does outside of the event,
like everyones crazy nametag requests and all the behind the scenes stuff thats too long to list
also shoutouts (in alphabetical order to keep the peace) to Blixy, Kibibit, Reborn, Schamtoo, Zeroes for all the side stuff (trophy, pics, casting, etc.) and I get the feeling I'm forgetting people but I'm sorry, I'm sooo tired, lol

P.S. Special Shoutout to the Tech guy whos name I cant spell, he actually doesn't even work for cybercraft anymore but he went out of his way to come back just for our event. He does so much to set up and help out, its amazing

Wooo just got home, finally. Despite my stupid GPS doing constant recalculations, I made it back from dropping off Certified. But I have a question - why is there a 69 Street, Lane, and Place all in a row? Lol.
Thanks to Certified, btway, and the tech guy who fixed my sound!!!! <3 Loved hanging out with everyone as always, and dinner was a blast.
I'll have to look at the pictures when it's not 2 in the morning... and I'm sooo looking forward to that video. Great singing by Scham.

I really think next time we go for dinner, everyone bring enough money for their food/drink/tip. We all should chip in and pay back Kibbit. Seems like he paid the most + tips that weren't left from us.
