update: laptops secured. thanks all Ok Chickapeas heres the details.
After poking around at bars and restaurants, we decided that the best bet for a big community meet up is to rent a ball room like last year. Many of the details are still being fleshed out and will be updated as they come in.
Things you should know
First day of Blizzcon ends around 8pm. We start @ 9PM at Double Tree Hotel (right near the event ill post map in a bit).
Free food, drinks, and hopefully some sponsored prizes
Lots of guests, fanboy photo ops. We'll have a stage set up and sound system set up for impromptu intoxicated show matches.
Tentative Special Guests
Nazgul
HuskySC
HDStarcraft
JP
TLO, HuK, other pros
Day9, tasteosis
A couple mystery guests
How Do i Get There? 8 Minute walk (unless you are slow)

Fuck, I know right? Five minutes before I teach a class and I have this big frown face on.
Goddamnit Savior. Goddamnit.
Regardless, the party looked awesome last year and should be better this year. Have a blast!
edit - Don't have to work that week. If anyone wants to give me money to fly to California and get drunk with gamers I would be forced to take that money.
Awww mannn I WISH I could make it there. Looks so fuggin awesome, and should definitely be alcohol friendly! Gotta have ERRRRBODY smashed for this event.
Went last year. Was amazing - got pics with SkyHigh, Effort, and he who should not be named. Also met Hot_Bid and Kenniget as well who were really friendly and awesome as well.
Its pretty awesome to meet progamers in person. If anyone has a chance to go they definitely should. I wish these sorts of events happened more.
I'm very excited, I'm something close to a lurker but I'll be there with friends! Also, if you're over 21 drinks a few floors up with The Herd (my wow guild lol).
omg, i'm not going but a representative of the chilean community will be there! I told him to come here and send PM to ya guys!!! i would have loved to be there but well... i didn't got picked to go there.
At first I was all super excited, because the TL OSL party last year was the highlight of BlizzCon for me. Then I saw the picture of sAviOr and got a little sad. Then I remembered there was video of last year up on youtube, and iNcontroL made me laugh away the pain.
Mat from TLAF is also going to be there (as he said in "Message from the management" in the TL weekly 9). So everybody can thank him for sponsoring the team.

Yes?

Emostarcraft here (http://www.youtube.com/emostarcraft)
I commentate and cast the SCAL tourneys and other events, I am a high level toss competitive tourney player and will be attending. Hopefully I can shoot the breeze with you guys, answer any questions you may have.
We have confirmations from many of the fansites covering Blizzcon this year. Most will be attending. Curse Gaming has an invitational event that ends at 12am, so we are the perfect after party. For the R. Kelly fans, we then have the Hotel Lobby.
I am still working on sponsors. Right now we have a good supply of prizes. I would love to have a huge supply of prizes. I would really love for everyone there to be able to see and use the new Razor Starcraft 2 line. I had a chance to play with it at E3 and it is amazing. Heck-- I wish everyone there could feel and use the new Cyborg R.A.T. 9 from Mad Catz. That may be the future of mice.
If you want to volunteer, please contact kOre. I have a dozen or so people who have already stepped up. We still need computers and people to run the tech stuff with kOre.
There is a thread on the Blizzcon Forums. Please feel free to post there to help build excitement. We have a ballroom three times bigger than last year. We have free food, free drinks, and free prizes. This should not just be the best Starcraft party of Blizzcon: This should be the best party of Blizzcon. I look forward to seeing all of you there!

PM kOre with your RSVP and number of people coming. If you want to bring anything or volunteer, just let him know!

If they do, I would give almost any thing for a live TL Attack. Get a pro, have them play people from the audience, have someone make fun of them both, amazingness ensues.

I don't think I got an email but I bought a ticket already
I went to the blizzcon website and it says the same thing [That you would get an email and that you could get the barcode in my battlenet account]

I (apparently) just won a ticket to BlizzCon, so I'll probably be there! Is the event mainly gonna be about watching BETTER people play or will there be some mild tournament-y stuff we can participate in? That would be fun, even though I don't have a US b.net account. :x
The tournament at BlizzCon is the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational. There will be areas you can play SC2 at, should you choose. No open tournament for the regular public though.

I think the only thing stored on the site is your order confirmation from the Blizzard store.
You may want to call them up if you don't get it in another day.
Worst case scenario, you show up with your proper ID and the card you used to make your purchase and you should still get in just fine, they just put you in a special line for people who don't have barcodes. At least they did last year.

I was worried about this as well, so I dug through my spam mail and found the e-mail went out to me on the 5th of October. If you're using g-mail you might want to check it out (they filter a number of "blizzard" looking emails out as spam).
Long time lurker, I'll probably attend while I'm out there popping my blizzcon cherry.

The funny thing was that last year, on the Thursday, the "no barcode" line was way shorter than its more "responsible" counterpart. In the past years, all they have cared about is the name of the person on the credit card. Everything else is gravy.
Worst case scenario-- you're waiting a little bit longer in line. This gives you a chance to meet new people, talk about starcraft, and invite them to our party

On October 18 2010 06:34 mahnini wrote: there's place to park at the meetup right?
There is little free parking in Anaheim. You can park at any of the hotels, including the Doubletree, but it does cost money to do so
EDIT: we get vastly discounted parking for the event at the Doubletree. I will post that amount and a map with a short cut as soon as the hotel emails me with it.
That is the price we pay for partying at the Happiest Place on Earth...
Given the massive amount of RSVPs we have expanded outside of the ballroom. We will have cocktail tables set up in the foyer for mingling, photo ops, and (most importantly) cell phone calls.
What kind of prizes do you guys most want to have handed out? What do you want to see at your party? And no-- that does not include flying out disgraced, former CJ members, to throw rotten fruit at.
Question - how long does this usually last? I ask because the contests don't end until ~8:30/9PMish, and the con itself is open until 10PM, so it'd probably be 2 hours after the TL party starts before I'd get over there... is that when things are winding down, or just starting to wind up?
Btw, re: the credit card question, you do not need the credit card to pick up your badge as long as you have the barcode and it's in your name. You will need the credit card if you have to change the name on the badge. Of course, I'm not a Blizz employee, so that's not guaranteed, but I'm fairly certain of it from the FAQ and what I recall from last year.

The party runs till around 4am. We expect that we will be busy till about 2am at the earliest.
Just for clarification, the questions above about bar codes and tickets is referring to blizzcon right? Make sure I don't show up to something without the proper paperwork
Everyone that has PM'ed me has been taken into account. Those who just sent in a RSVP (with the number of people they will be bringing) won't actually get a direct reply. His nickname is Unlimited and he will be going I gave him a map, and we made him a small ridiculous paper made "ID" lololol
I hope you guys show him some love, he is a really cool guy and I told him to get me a TL tshirt :'(.
I've given Kennigit a rough estimation of how many people have RSVP'ed through me and he has the numbers now.
Anyone who wishes to make a donation to help fund for the event can do so at the actual event through either me or Kennigit (something will be set up at the event so you know where to go).
As far as computers go for the event we have 4 that are available but we could use an extra 2 if anyone is willing to bring theirs along (preferably something that can handle High/Ultra for SC2 with ease).
That's everything for now I guess, I'll be heading to LA myself in a couple hours or so but I'll check back in this thread if anyone has any more questions.
If it's possible, I'd like to throw myself (+ 1) as tentative for going to this! When I stumbled across this gem, I had the sudden urge to squeal like a fangirl.
im at the econo lodge, but its 3 miles away!! bastards tricked me into thinking it was walking distance. im playing sc1 and d2 at my hotel on my laptop, bored
I will bring a lady friend over, help lowering the ~20:1 guy:girl ratio. I talk her into coming, even though she has no clue about SC or TL. She and I both work for the Blizzcon event (wow station), but the gay thing is they will kick us out at the end of the shift. If someone can slip us in after 4pm that would be nice and shes never been in Blizzcon thought i show her around as well. pm me please.

Peanut is a girl commentator . She did some work for the foreign scene of BW. I can't remember much more so take this with a grain of salt: She used to be a cocaster at 1 some BW LAN event once with legionnaire or day[9] or tasteless(?). I think she helped translate KR<-->EN at some event(?) She's more afflicted with gg.net than TL but IIRC she has an account here. She, along with lilsusie and mnm are probably the most famous girls in the SC community.

So i went to Blizzcon last year and went to the TL meet up pretty smashed. It was sooo much fun. I was only a lurker at the time but my friend who is a long time veteran went with me and it was hilarious. Watching the smashed feature matches, hanging out with charliemurphy obliterated was awesome. If you are a TL fan show up to this, you will not be disappointed. Everyone is also super nice and its great to put some faces to posters
Edit: Plz take pictures of Charliemurphy smashed thx!
Was there with a friend..was so packed with nerd fro's we headed out after 40 minutes or so. Seriously people just cause ur a nerd who leaves the house rarely...u should bathe/dress appropriately when you leave ur house... but seriously the party was packed we might go back in an hour or two once the people who went strictly for free food/drinks r gone. But seriously people, don't be a stereotype just cause u play sc2 doesn't mean u shouldn't bathe/groom. Break the stereotypes.
O PanoRaMa we saw u there in ur cj entus shirt, we both said it was sick. Haha my friend was in the blue overlord shirt with all the sig's all over it. We boned out tho cause it was too cramped sooooooo many people were there

The Herd is an excellent group of gentlemen and ladies, some of whom play sc2 at a decently advanced level. CuLane co-casted a match at the tl party with Artosis that was very entertaining.
Thanks Latham for the intro and I'd like to clarify a few things. I was head staff at sc2gg back in the day but was never affilated with gg.net, although I have friends there. I tried being a caster but realized I didn't know enough about the game to do it well, so I don't cast games anymore. I'm not that great at Korean and have never worked officially as a kor <--> eng translator. I was very involved in journalism and organizing tournaments, etc, and then I disappeared for a year and have come back determined to get from bronze to diamond league (with standard play). My career is gaming community management, although not in sc.
Sadly, *he* was not there (at least not from 10pm-1am), although Kennigit and co had fruitdealer there to do a little q&a, which was awesome, so many thanks to you guys.
Oh and all the pictures I took with FruitDealer with other people I will upload once I find my USB cable for the camera. Chances are you might be able to get a few more tomorrow if you missed out today.
I wanted to give a HUGE thanks to Ibsen, kOre, Joe and everyone else who help put this together. I had a blast and it was definitely awesome! You guys ROCK!
"and one bottle of Dom Perignon."

I appreciate the effort, but just make sure to donate next year! We took in just under 900 dollars which went to paying for most of the pizza and drinks. I was surprised and impressed by the generosity of the community. A big thank you to everyone who donated!
I told myself I was going to donate at least $5 or so (HUGE. I KNOW.) but I completely forgot on my way out..
THIS WAS FREAKING AWESOME. I SAW HUSKY AND STOPPED WALKING. AND THEN I SAW TLO AND STOPPED BREATHING. AND THEN I SAW FRUITDEALER AND I DIED. I WRITE THIS TO YOU FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE.
Unfortunately I had to leave by 11:40 but the setup was really good! More space and a louder mic for Husky would have helped though. I think I'm going to get a hotel room next year so that I can actually be at the event longer. Meeting TLO was awesome; Dario looked like a BOSS in his leather jacket. Artosis was also very nice to talk to.
Ahhh Baked I didn't realize that you were there. I shoulda met up with you. I was the shitty terran who played in the first showmatch for a TL shirt Hadn't played in a month or so haha.
Do we have video of me making a fool of myself sitting next to Artosis? Oh, and btw, thank you ALL very much Team Liquid for making something of a dream of mine come true.

Superb. I was the one that brought the winner of the woman's SC2 match at the LT meet. iirc she mentioned playing against "a very angry looking woman" when she won her king of the hill matches at blizzcon (the win 3 games to get a poster thing).
I don't have any pictures from the meet, but it was a total blast. Unfortunately I did not know about this last year or I would have went then as well.
Got to meet FruitDealer, watch some hilarious showmatches, eat some pizza, good times indeed.
Only suggestion is maybe a clearer or louder mic for whoever casts matches, it was a little tough to hear him towards the back.
The meetup was awesomely fun and crowded. I got a Katrana Prestor WoW trading card signed by TLO, Artosis, and Nazgul but it fell out of my back pocket.
Anywho, I'm wondering if anyone on here can help me with my search for a certain really attractive guy from the meetup. He was there with some of his friends, about 6'2" and on the thinner side. I believe he had a lip piercing on his bottom lip as well as dirty dark blonde/light brown hair styled in a faux hawk (it was on the shorter side). I think he was also wearing a black T-shirt at the time. The lighting in the room was pretty bad so it was a bit hard to see.
Anyway, here is a video for this quest and there are obviously rewards.
