Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion.
For regular posters, don't quote the trolls. |

On a more serious note I imagine use of 'gay' in gaming culture is a little annoying. not to me. Do you ever rage and call a tactic gay? o.O Growing up around boston, every single person i knew, gay straight or bi called things gay. It's just what we grew up with.
On a side note, I think it's amusing that people only complain when gay gets used with a negative connotation, rather than the original meaning of happy. Technically people are equally wrong in the modern vernacular of calling anything gay if it doesn't enjoy identical sex organs.

What's your opinion on men who identify as heterosexual, or close to that anyways idolizing the physical characteristics of other men? Like if I'm watching WCG Ultimate Gamer and I'm like "Damn look at them gunz," where does that fall?
Is there I line between being attracted to men as a man and idolizing men as a man?
In your opinion ofc

So bravo.
I won't go into details about my disorder, but suffice it to say that the process of growing up with it has ridiculously similar parallels. When I was growing up, a lot of things seemed faked. When I clued my parents in awhile later they both tried to rationalize how I felt in order to return to the mundane routine we'd been living with all my life.
How did your family deal with your coming out?
You know, most of my experiences at tl.net that involve me making OPs usually stay pretty civil and have good reading.
That's why i've stuck around this community for so long.
Mods, i love you. You all know it.

Personally I'm straight but I could give a damn less if someone is straight or gay. Good for you Mora, best of luck finding a sexy gamer for yourself!
i'm not into nerds.
i made this thread for other gays (there was another gay post in the general forum that was closed. I started a new thread by request).
i also did it because questions are great,

No. A decent amount online, but that has never phased me.
Some homophobic asshole being told he lost to a faggot has seemed to be a lot more degrading to them than calling me a faggot. (i mean, i am a faggot. You'd think they'd want to call me a carpetlicker or something. lol)
I had one experience in person where i was holding a guys hand in public. Some rednecks drove by in their pickup truck and called us faggots.
The guy i was with was really upset, he couldn't understand why someone would lash out at another human being like that.
I took it in typical Mora fashion.
I was fascinated.
That my simple and near unnoticeable act - hell, i didn't even realize i was holding his hand until they shouted at us - could have the power to rile the emotions in other sentient beings, so much so as to physically compel them to lean out of their vehicle and communicate such instability. That's pretty incredible. That's pretty empowering.
I was so entertained, it put me in a good mood for hours.
But what happened next was so much more profound.
As Patrick and i were getting into the car after this ordeal, 2 older gentlemen - and by old i mean like 70 - were walking by, and they also had to voice their opinions about the matter.
"Now, you boys don't worry about those rednecks at all. They're just young and ignorant and don't know what they're doing".
That's right. Old men, raised in a time where homosexuality was not accepted, or the norm, in turn felt compelled to come to our defense. That we live in such a time where that would occur is phenomenal. That event made my whole fucking week.
Rock on world, you're doing just fine.

I don't "come across" that way, i AM that way.(haha) I'm just not used to dropping my drawers and fucking in front of 20 other guys in a dark room at the back of a bar. lol.
I am in Germany because i was sent to Gamescom to do demos for the video game i'm making called Company of Heroes Online.

Oh man, I know a lot about gay stuff! Even though that's only like 3 questions.
1) I am close to being a bear, though bears are typically older (30+) and overweight.
So i guess i'm a bear-in-the-making? (OMG BiTM for those of you who get it! BRILLIANT. OMG YES.)
2) no
3) if a bear and a twink are together (i've never seen it, personally) i would imagine the bear being the top. Then again, more than 50% of bears are bottoms. so it's hard to say.

That is a huge surprise to me; it sounds like the way some people characterize America (yes there are some religious bigots here). They don't teach it. Culture implies it. If you were to go up to a group of girls, and discuss girls making out, what would be their response? What if you went up to a group of guys? And then go back to the girls and talk about guys making out with each other? And then to a group of guys and ask about guys making out with each other? People are cool with you being gay. They're just not cool with a guy being with a guy. This can even be seen in popular television shows to do with homosexuals. How often do u see a gay sex scene in WIll and Grace, or Sex in the City, or other shows with gay characters? (and i don't mean full on scene, but rather just hints/foreshadowing of close intimacy). Gays are in television, with their flamboyance and all, but actually being gay is not very exposed. Yeah, actual man-on-man gay sex is rarely seen on popular television. The only show I can recall showing extended, sensual kissing and foreplay is HBO's The Wire, with the gay gangster Omar Little. Even on The Wire, it was pretty tame compared to the graphic depictions of straight sex.
Torchwood has some. But yea, right now they are going with girls (Stargate:Universe, House, The L word etc.) But its a start!
In Latvia praid got shit thrown upon (literally and figuratively ) and forced to location which was closed from public, like what the hell, do they even know what it is for. ehh.
On the side note: have you ''converted'' or discovered any straight guys?

My friend is pretty conservative to begin with and this is making him really homophobic. I find it hilarious but I'm just wondering what the gay guy wants to get out of that. Like if I knew some hot chick was a lesbian I wouldn't waste a lot of time trying.
I will occasionally hit on straight guys that i do not like to purposefully make them feel uncomfortable. There's something empowering about making straight guys feel the way women are made to feel. Especially being that you have that control over a straight guy.
But i only do that when i'm drunk and am totally willing to get beaten up for doing so.
In situations where i wish to avoid animosity, i would never hit on a straight guy who was made to feel uncomfortable by it, so i can not explain these others' motivations.

I never use "you're gay" to insult someone, but I do use "gay" to describe 'uncool' or 'boring' actions, like "hey dude, you're gonna sit in your room all weekend? ...gay".
Also, I am a strong supporter of Louis C.K.'s stand on the word "Faggot". I use that quite a bit, especially with my girlfriend. I call her a fag or faggot a lot (jokingly ofc, when she's being annoying). Is that somewhat homophobic? I would never use it to insult someone in a REAL way, but when someone is being really annoying I might drop that. However, where I live there's little to no gay population, so there's almost no risk of ever actually insulting someone, but I don't wanna doing when I travel, by mistake (like I was in amsterdam during the gay pride parade, it was raining as fuck but I still walked around all day and everyone was just having fun despite the whether thing, and I felt like I had to watch my language, and not call my gf a fag or something in public).
I don't know how to explain, I feel that I wrote a lot of crap, it's just that I have no gay friends nor do I know anyone who's gay in person, so I might use these terms way too loose. So, bottom line: say you were in a club with me and a few more people, in a group. Everyone wanted to go to a different venue, except one guy/girl. Would you feel offended if I were to say. "Oh come on stop being a fag and come with us".? (to that person, not to you) Because in my mind, I never associate the term fag or faggot with homophobia. And I'm pretty sure that's a bad thing.
i do not find the word offensive.
many of my friends who are ex-homophobic will call me a faggot, even in derogatory settings. (ie: i can't lift as much weight as one of them, and he calls me a faggot).
If they didn't want to be my friend, they wouldn't be. Them calling me a faggot is clearly trying to communicate something else. I would be both stupid and foolish to go out of my way to be offended by it.

The mannerisms are to basically connect with other gay people and the gravitation towards women is essentially to protect themselves from the d-bag bros.
Not to discredit your research, but I think that's a side effect and not a cause. They are naturally that way, and they'll embrace it with the justification that such behaviour identifies them.
I am friends with someone who speaks one word and you can tell he's gay - but he denies it vehemently. He's open with only a very small group of people, and really wishes he didn't sound/behave like he does. Me on the other hand, I can't even fake a gay lisp

Canada is exactly like the USA. IMO we are equally as conservative (which sucks), yet most Americans think Canada is super-liberal and is like The Netherlands or something. most of my American friends think Weed is legal here, lol, but the "War on Drugs" is in full effect in Canada also.
Alberta is like a Texas wannabe, its conservative as FUCK. our government is basically a Bush administration clone also. My city (Ottawa) is really really conservative.
