Ok anyway the jist of the exciting news is basically the owner of the place is really willing to work with us in hosting kickass lan's at this place. (He contacted me THROUGH TL!!!) Also there's a very good chance in the near future sponsors will get involved (through the lan center mainly) for prizes and other stuff just for us. How awesome is that. Also if it grows more people will get interested which only helps. They have around 40 pc's so it may get tricky if we get more than that I assume there is going to be a flooood of people interested. Also the lan center would want to put the event on their calendar or maybe post flyers in the center about the date/prizes etc which opens a whole new dynamic. The days may be arriving where we have to hold qualifiers to cut the field to 32 people playing @ the actual lan tournament. Problem is this cuts the aspect of it being a true "TL event" and makes it more of a local/sc2/TL mixed event. I wonder what peoples thoughts on this might be... I personally love having bigger stuff, prizes and strengthening the local gaming community. But it'll change the dynamics of how we do things a bit. We can also look at this from the OTHER side too, this would be an amazing chance to advertise TL. Especially if these tournaments are titled/sanctioned by TL or something. Lots of speculation at this point but there are many possibilities thanks to extreme interest in sc2, yeesh I'm nervous already thinking about how large future lan's are probably going to be. ^_^ regardless there's gonna be alot of work to do. I should be able to take care of it though.  things I'm going to have to do is figure out dates and how reserving the place will work out, also need to figure out group rates/discount prices as well as all kinds of other stuff, they have some other rules and stuff like not being able to bring food/drink urself there (forcing u to buy food from them? seems weird) no smoking before 8pm is nice though. ^_^ Anyway I hope to meet with the owner sometime next week to BEGIN working things out. Right now I'm aiming to have an event ready to happen in early/mid September with the announcement/planning thread going up sometime late next week or the next. | ||

I wonder if there's any chance the lan center would have seperated rooms? Imagine how fucking baller it would be if these lans got pretty huge (32+ people) and for quarter finals and on (or just semis or just finals who knows) we commentated the games live for the people watching. I looove commentating ^_^ So yeah, for next week, I'll almost definitely be coming. If haemonculus and zlasher are coming I'll be giving them a ride, but I"ll still have 1 slot available in my car (driving down from Bethesda, MD in montgomery county), so if anyone around there needs a ride shoot me a PM. | ||

They do have a bigscreen TV and plenty of space in the back though which would make it very spectator friendly. This is something I can ask about when I meet with the owner. If anyone else has anything else they can think about asking for please post in here. Also if anyone would like to meet as well or see the lan center themselves (have a mini lan someday next week) I'll be working out a trip there sometime next week during the day someday to meet with the owner to discuss all this stuff. | ||
