elitist jerks forums is terrible, they make 1 thread and expect u to go through hundreds of pages to find that 1 post that might be what you're looking for. while there was a lot of number crunching and useful info, it was way too hard to find it. basically the thread became a chatroom with different people discussing 8 different things at once.

I definitely agree that that is a useful part of LR threads. There is nothing wrong with discussing the games, or making OMG statements when something epic happens. But when the thread turns to whining or just player bashing, it clogs it up for everyone. Discussion is impossible, and it becomes impossible to find information.

I think the main problem is that live reporting is probably less than 1% of what is being posted in a live report thread. Most LR threads are completely useless regarding their original purpose, because to find that one post that describes what just happened you wade through 8 pages of "OMMMGGG" and "PLAYER XY HWATING!!!" and "lol".

Ya that's a good point, and that's what I'm trying to get at. Saying "incontrol hwaitin!!!" and saying "not impressed by incontrol, I think he's bad" contributes an equal amount to the threads, but are treated differently. I get the "respect" aspect of it, but I don't think that respect = not saying anything if you don't have anything good to say about all parties involved.
LR threads just aren't LR threads anymore, and I think you either have to adapt with that, or start literally kicking everyone out that isn't LRing. This halfway approach of "it's ok to not LR as long as you're nice" that they're using is something that I can't agree with. You either have it strictly LR, or you open up to all discussion, whether it be good or bad (except balance whining of course, as taht is a forum wide policy that I can't agree enough with)

The cheering / bashing policy isn't reserved to LR threads, it's a global TL policy. You can, and are encouraged to, post "I love Sheth!!!" in many threads where it's applicable. You can't, however, post "Sheth is fucking terrible." The reason for this should be obvious. LR threads follow the same standards. You could, however, post "Wow that move was terrible by Sheth".

Yet I would say that forum has the best content per post ratio I've ever seen in a forum. We can argue about how easy it is to find information on the forum, but the information is there. The search function does the rest.
I don't think the three or four massive mega-threads is the correct way to run a forum, but it works for them. The same thing applies here at TL. TL has its staff and forums running in a certain way, and it seems to work out fine.
People get banned and threads get closed for posting stupid things and the end result is higher quality content.
