Gaaaaaaaaah.

Game. We've got LC, Void, and CM (me!) locked in. They've got Skywrath Necro Potm and two blanks. LC's said she's going woods, Void and I are a pretty obvious duo lane... fuck it, I announce "Need a mid and offlane still, please pick accordingly" anyways.

Meepo and Riki.

Meepo mid, sure. Against necro or skywrath? Sounds fucking crazy to me, but best of luck to you. Riki offlane? Lol.

...But apparently I'm dumb and bad at Dota, because at 15 minutes in the game Riki's got more than I thought he would against a Lina / Necro duo lane, Meepo's done pretty damn solid mid, and our Void has had freefarm, including a 5 minute midas. I'd also kept Mirana down at level 1 until the 3rd minute of the game, so things were looking good.

At 9 minutes, our Meepo scouts that they've got a Lycan with vlads, so I let everyone know that we need to keep an extra special eye on Roshan, and keep that shit warded for the rest of the game. They never do get roshan, but it doesn't matter.

There's something special you might notice about our lineup. Yeah, on the surface 4 of them are carries, but they're not just ANY 4 carries... they're pubstomp carries, every single one, and they play like it.

Exhibit A: Meepo, blink dagger, treads, and components of an Aghas. That's exactly what you'd expect, but what you wouldn't expect is for him to use that blink to launch himself solo, deep in their woods, into a Lycan that's howled and god knows what else, who proceeds to gnaw his face right off with a little help from his inevitably-nearby friends. Or to launch himself solo at their t2 at a full health Necro when his main meepo only had 500 hp and Necro had already cast veil on him. And then ragequit immediately afterwards.

Exhibit B: Riki. Diffusal, BKB, is CONVINCED that he can solo kill the Lina literally standing in the middle of their team before they kill him. Turns out that isn't the case. Also special points for playing the "Geez, I hope they don't have detection!" card like 15 times throughout the game.

Exhibit C: Void. Nothing says "I was only made to kill people" like a build that opens midas, then goes straight daedalus and a MoM. Also cool was the general opinion that no matter where he was on the map, if he got 2 out of their 5 in bubble, then the teamfight was won and under no circumstance should we abandon ship.

Exhibit D: LC. Again, an opening midas says something, but at least LC was manning the opposite end of the pubstomp spectrum. "Look at all these free lanes of farm, and free farm in the woods!" LC said whenever not being a good player and participating in defensive teamfights, "Boy, I get to farm until I have so many items we can't lose!". Unfortunately, this only works if you -don't- have 3 carries that are perpetually in their woods or at their ancients trying to kill people, and also doesn't work if those 3 carries have zero interest in pushing anything or taking rosh even IF they manage to snipe the Lycan or someone.

So at about 20 minutes, I looked at our 4 carry lineup, looked at our farm and went "Damn, that went better than expected! I think we can't lose!". About 10 minutes later, after 3 times in sequence where our pubstompers took turns trying to 1v5 their team, I'd returned to the much less optimistic "Goddammit. Fuck dota"
