You're right, but if people in it for fun are playing unranked, then the ranked games are gonna be mostly tryhards. So that's my argument against it; too many people with inflated attitudes getting toxic in ranked while everyone else has a fun time building dagon 5 on every hero in unranked

The difference is Dota 2 is actually fun to play. When I played SC2 I would get very little enjoyment from actually playing the game, the only fun part was winning, and that didn't last for very long. Dota is fun, even if you lose, ranked doesn't change that, unless dropping in ranking makes you supremely depressed.

I can't speak for what everyone else thinks about the difference between ranked and unranked is, but for me, it's that there will always be somebody who finds a reason to get pissed about losing. The difference is that in unranked, they get pissed about the loss and cope with it however they do. In ranked, not only will they get pissed about losing, but they'll get pissed about losing a rank that they've decided is significant and blame the team not just for a loss, but for making them not look like the leet pro they clearly are

Both LC and NP decides to farm jungle (and not one item LC farms shadowblade --> phase --> maelstorm before commiting to a single fight NP farms midas, treads shadowblade.
Somehow we hold for like 25 minutes 3v5. They come out of jungle, we get momentum. Main driving force is the six slotted NP.
Who then AFK's out to an abandon.
This is ranked matchmaking btw.

OD players are often arrogant but if he's winning his lane I don't see why he should initiate anything, it's up to the others during the laning phase. I don't say not doing anything but carrying a TP and freefarming mid + preventing the other mid from farming is already a good job.

Why do I keep playing with my friends  It's either braindead people or my other friend who plays against pubstars and progamer on a regular basis. Feed myself or lose game because teammates feed, sad life.

The latest patch has made Dota 2 completely unplayable for me. Who in their right mind thinks it's a good a idea to match 5-stacks against 5 people solo queuing?
Due to the fact that I don't have any friends that play Dota 2, I've always been forced to solo queue. Now, I'm not the greatest player in the world, far from it, but I'd like to think of myself as half-decent, at least. Before the most recent patch I had a solo queue win rate of 62%; not great, but not too terrible either. After the patch, however, I have only won 2 out of 13 games.
Is this seriously how Valve intends Dota 2 to be for the ones who can't get a 5-stack together?

Yeah, 5-stacks should only play 5-stacks.
And 4+1 stacks should be matched against 4+1 stacks.
And 3+1+1 stacks should play other 3+1+1 stacks.
And don't forget the 2+1+1 stacks.
Or the 2+2+1.
Or 3+2.
