I repeatedly ask him to stop auto attacking. His response: "I am farming". I had to spend so much time explaining what that's bad idea, telling him I cant zone the alch, it pushes ineffectively against their tower, how the skeleton king couldn't safely farm because we're exposed....and he still ignores me. Finally, they three man gank the sk that's basically pushed our wave to the tower, and I totally bailed on his ass (it's not like I could have stopped it, I was lich with no ult). He got what he deserved. Then I'm like "and that's precisely why you don't push the lane like you were, as I explained previously", and he finally conceded that what he was doing was stupid, which is progress, I guess. Still won because lich is EZ rape in pubs as long as you have at least one decent ally, but god damn. Shit is frustrating.

Seriously I don't even know how often this has happened in recent games, but strangely we still some of them. Story of my life. What I end up doing is pinging the opponent and keep on telling the guys to take care or something and if they don't tower hug or try to preserve their life, I go tp in. But damn, tping all around the place can be tough for a support. 135 gold don't come cheap especially when you need to get wards.

Even if dota has more elements that are out of your control you can always find stuff that you could have done better. Yeah, i feel its quite a bit like poker, a science of imperfect information. You have to take more notice of the things that you dont know, to make a correct decision, and sometimes you can be punished when you make a correct decision.

Was playing on my low level smurf that I use when I get back into the game after like a month being away (I get rusty as fuck on mechanics), and I was denying creeps and zoning the enemy alch as lich, and what does the skeleton king I am laning with do? Pushes the lane, auto attacking so much that it overpowers my creep deny. Suddenly I can no longer zone the alch, who gets farm. I repeatedly ask him to stop auto attacking. The thing that fries me about this Pugna, that doesn't say a word the entire game, is that he consistently uses Decrepify over and over again on the enemies that we are trying to focus fire. This lets tons of enemies slip away from us and gets me killed a number of times. I plead with him to stop doing that. As before, no answer. It annoys the hell out of me when people abuse the Report system to report players for poor play, that's not what it's there for. I reported this Pugna though because between his complete lack of communication and the number of times he effectively saved enemies with Decrep, I'm convinced that it very possibly could have been intentional trolling.

Well, he wasn't quite THAT bad. He knew how to last hit (poorly), he would just sit there attacking creeps down until near the end and THEN get the last hit, which had the effect of hardcore pushing the lane. Frustrating when I am playing lich, which is all about lane control and zoning. Against a solo alch, too, that guy should have been like level 2 six minutes in, but this dumb sk kept feeding him waves to the tower.

This is so common at low levels I am amazed they did not address it in the tutorial.

This time: Dark seer goes into woods. I plead him to come with us as we can't handle top ourselves against lina, sd and alchemist combo. So we die a couple of times, and then suddenly from Doom: "fuck. report silencer. I go woods" and he just ups and leaves the midlane. I hastly run down and grab it since I'm not doing any good top anyways, might as well let gyro get some extra xp. 3 minutes later from ds: "I take mid. go top silencer". So I tell him "If you wanted to take the woods so bad you might as well just stay there". "omg silencer report".

Thing is, that your average sc2 game is around 15-20 minutes. Browsing through it with 4* speed isn't much of a hassle, as you can quickly see the stuff the 2 players were doing right / wrong / coulda done better. Your average DotA game is 30-45 minutes and you have to pay attention to not only yourself, but also to the other 9 guys. It's definetly an awesome way of improving, just like it is in sc2 but it cost more time.

For once we get the first picks, I see that there are few carries in pool, grab Sven. My friend was alt-tabbed and randomed AM. Could be worse. Then the third guy (rubick) starts throwing a tantrum over not picking supports first and demands AM go mid as some kind of punishment. They draft OD Dis Raptor Earthshaker Warlock Dark Seer So basically no physical damage aside from golem punches. They have early push potential, but if we just grab early BKBs we can laugh at their useless spells. Somehow it's decided that Rubick will try to babysit AM hardlane (maybe he was stealing lasthits to spite him or something? I didn't watch), I was bot with Tidehunter (I would normally point out that he was basically useless the whole game, but he stood beyond XP range and didn't contest farm, so that's likely the best I can hope for) who really couldn't do jack vs Dark seer, but he couldn't really stop me either. Our mid was a Beastmaster who died to OD 2 or 3 times. Sure it's a hard lane, but if you go bottle first I expect some axe spam. Gets one point of axes and maxes aura. They end up putting OD mid and trilaned the rest to shut down AM+Rubick. I repeatedly asked Tide to go help since AM was too behind to fight off ion shell bot and they needed help. Too busy single pulling a lane under our own tower. Eventually I went top instead and they were of course equal level to me because rubick can't understand that 2 stuns, a wall, lightning ball, and fatal bonds all at once will kill people. Now normally I would qq over 2.5 supports and no wards or something like that, but the post-worthy-ness came from Rubick. He would go on mic and allchat the whole damn make sure we heard him laughing at odd times and never stopped whining about how our picks were so terrible. So now the game's pretty much over, they have all t2 towers down and a massive lead. Then Rubick starts mocking me for going BKB first, insisting that I'm just a noob who blindly follows default items. Just to shut him up I popped BKB, ulted, got a 4 man stun and wiped them by myself before getting blocked against rax between the golems and punched to death. Extended the game by a good 6 minutes but that won me 2-3 of silence before he began whining over picks again. I swear he had his mic button bound to the pedal of 1998 NASCAR game because he never took his foot off the gas.

It's basically an excuse for first pick to autolock mid or carry because he's first and then the 4-5th player is invariably stuck with either supporting or lastpicking another carry because he doesnt give a fuck (more of the latter than the former)

Not to mention that if you are in a stack everyone just wants to get on to the next game, you don't really have time to load up the replay and have a decent look. It would be nice if you at least had some graphs you could look at after the game to give a bit of insight. Kinda like the gold and xp graph, though it would be better if you could compare individual players. I'm assuming the only way to access the regular gold and xp graphs is from within the replay?
