Story: pub CM game, the naga on the enemy team ults us AFTER her allies Gyro and Kunkka both cast their ulties, and doesn't cancel it until after they both finished hitting nothing. We smashed the teamfight and took a t3, but holy hell, she just let it finish, didn't try to cancel or anything. I'd be so mad if I were on her team.

Yeah I basically only use naga song to deny towers, to escape, or when the entire team is shouting at me to use it. Figure I can't do much harm that way...

It's the role that plays the most differently compared to typical pub play so that's why it's hard to get decent players on that role. It's also the role where you re the most likely to feed since you're not going to have a lot of items

From having run through dozens of tryouts for tmm in my experience roles that are the easiest to find are 1 > 2 > 4 > 3/5. Now, getting a 1/4/5 or a 2/4/5 to work in synergy is a whole different ballpark. ;;

I am so sick of seeing sniper mids. The valve tutorial has singlehandledly put a sniper in like 90% of my games since the patch.
Why would you pick sniper for this? He is a squishy, situational carry who is completely useless unless he's played well, and in a specific way. If the guy is bad (which tutorial snipers always are) he contributes nothing except the occasional ks with his ult. Even if the guy is okay, at the end of the day you still have a sniper while the other team has a proper snowball/teamfight #2 who won his lane.
Why volvo. Why. Even DK was better because at least he turns into a big obvious dragon and can tank a bit.

Sniper is easily one of the absolute worst ranged heroes to send mid in the game. No escape mekansm to live through smoke ganks and not enough starting dps to go man mode and fight attackers like viper can. I remember playing windrunner mid in a pub against sniper. Suffice to say, I pooped all over him until he abandoned due to having no kill contribution and 9 deaths

I can't believe i'm saying this. Sniper mid is actually legit on extremely rare occasions. (Not speaking of pubs ofcourse
If you're playing 5 stack and doing an offensive trilane, you can give him 2 set of tangoes at the beginning and completely destroy some of other popular mid heroes. OD, Storm is just example. If I remember correctly sneyking did that against a storm. My team's mid did that against an OD. With this way your solo lane can use bottle.
He is defenseless against ganks but nevermore is defenseless too. Offensive trilane forces enemy supports to defence their carry to prevent ganks on mid. Extremely rare but sometimes it works well.

Fringe picks can work in some very specific situations. We've seen picks like timbersaw, bristleback, nevermore, etc in comp dota because the teams are trying to understand fully the current meta before they get tossed into ti3
The reasons nevermore and sniper can ever be considered for a mid role is because they can gank fine and love early levels and gold. The reason they aren't good against most mid heroes in the game is because they have the base damage of a wet paper towel and die to smoke of deceit ganks in seconds.
The most sniper and nevermore can ever hope to be as mids, is as a last pick thats snuck through after the other team opposing team has selected a mid. However, this can backfire horribly if the opposing team last picks appropriately and fiddles with their lanes such that sniper is doomed to be owned.

In comp dota sure. In pubs when does anybody ever smoke gank mid? If you do dual lanes the expectation is always for mid to gank sidelanes, not the other way around.

I'm pretty sure the change was mostly to prevent people from dropping and destroying the gem before they died to avoid giving it to the other team. If a team picks up a dropped gem and has no use for it, they'll probably just drop it in their fountain so you can't reclaim it anyway.

yeah, pretty much this. Which is why it's so fun to play support in pubs - you can gank other lanes whenever you feel like it and they'll never expect it.

enemy team keep doing 5man pushes. Ask for support, only tp is a fucking sniper who can't do shit early against the 5man push.
My team's Nyx and Zeus dicking around tickling the bottom t1 while me, Bane and Sniper helplessly watch our tower get knocked down. Other team has 2 abandons probably because of bad connection they kept disconnecting before they abandoned.
Remaining 3 are still stubbornly defending their tower. Me Bane and Sniper tries to push but the enemy team is not retarded so we can't do much. Meanwhile Zeus and Nyx are still dicking around at empty lanes. I decide enough is enough. Sell my wand and bracer. Don't complete my bkb which is only missing the recipe. Rush a Bfury and afk farm. Turn the mithril hammer into a maelstrom for more farmz.
Team proceed to lose 4v3s over and over and over. Eventually lost even after I joined the fight cuz team is retarded and Bane just watch like a down syndrome kid until I'm at 50 hp then is like ohhh i have that ultimate I should use it on the Riki whos been pounding on the Slardar throughout the fight. It takes him like 8 seconds to use the damn ult in the fight. There's only 3 people to choose from. Razor Tinker and Riki. Razor has manta. It is so fucking obvious which is your grip target.
