See, I've never understood why people rage so much about 9/10s.
If you get one of those, you go straight back into the pool at the top priority, and most of the time you pick up a game in the next minute. Everyone's still there; you just have to wait for a new +1, just as if the afk had never queued in the first place.
In fact, a lot of the time, the only thing you lose is the time at accept/deny. And let's be honest, that's negligible compared to the time you spend in the queue, let alone the subsequent game.

I know, but sometimes it happens several times in a row and it gets frustrating. What I don't like about it is that the accepting part gets me hyped for the game, only to be disappointed by the 9/10 guy.
I'm saying these guys are worse because they also prevent the game from starting in a much more disruptive way, for very selfish reasons.

Indeed sometime there is only so much you can do. Just think about the times you had a terrible game but somehow your mid/top lane ended up destroying the opponent and carried you through the game.

probably better than my game where top lanes loses 1on2 to a ns and bot lane is feeding juggernaut to a minute 8 level 10

Played Venge, someone randoms Night Stalker and says "does anyone want? I don't know how to use", well shit, ain't that a sign. Someone randoms QoP but repicks into Luna. Someone get's Phantom Assassin and then says "I won't play carry." I forgot who the fifth pick was but we were up against a team full of carries, OD, Sniper, Sven, Nevermore, and someone else.
I tried to babysit night stalker but against OD and Sniper, al I could do was to deny. NS can't even try to last hit cuz Sniper was maxing out the range and stun skills while OD got Essence and Astral (as any good OD would). Phantom Assassin and the fifth pick fed hard.
We got outplayed hard, Luna tried to go hard carry by jungling but the other team was raping hard.
Second game lagged like a bitch. Team consisted of me (venge), axe, slark, ursa, and someone else. Axe didn't backdoor the shortlane and I had to take mid cuz nevermore was abusing. Ended up dying cuz of the terrible lag and I had to reconnect. Upon reconnection, we were crawling back into the game, we were slightly behind in farm until the other team took Roshan (and it was warded thanks to me). I told the team to wait a bit so that when we go in, we can kill the opposing team and kill roshan. We ended up killing the other team and stealing the Aegis. After that, we managed to snipe the remaining opponents and took commanding control. However, the thing was, Slark was the only one who got good farm, Axe had boots, Dagon, and Dagger after the game (basically he sucked), Ursa didn't get that much HP boost. Slark decided to fool around and rack up kills, (we got 80 kills total and 44 was his) which unnecessarily stretched the game. We almost lost because there was a clash that killed everyone except for Slark and our top got pushed and they got mega creeps, good thing we managed to respawn and push back.
We ended up killing roshan 3 times, Ursa took the cheese, Slark got the Aegis twice and he built a Divine Rapier.

Early morning US West pub games in a nutshell:
Bane, Disruptor, Sand King trilane top vs Luna, Visage, and Axe in the jungle. Within about 6 minutes, Disruptor, and SK are both 0-2, while Bane is 0-1.

You HAVE to only play between the hours of noon-8pm, if you play any earlier or later you get people from other countries/timezones, or just general idiots.
Just limit yourself to playing during the afternoon/evening and you generally get better teammates, and better games in general.
I only play late night/early morning dota when I'm drunk, and I'm assuming that's the case with many others ^_^

Well I queued and finally ended the 6 game slide. After losing to EternaLEnvy and then losing to HANNAH_MONTANA I got queued against what I can only assume was mid level bracket BRs and stomped.
These are my daily struggles.

Just make sure you don't queue on US West for the next week or so, tons of SEA players with 300+ ping going there because their servers are having maintenance. Last 3 games have just been feedfests by SEA players typing "-ping" every 5 seconds ~_~

Oh wow thanks for the heads up I was unaware of the maintenance for SEA servers. You literally probably saved my life from what would have been a sure suicide.

Every time I decide to play late night DotA (3PM and later) each game becomes progressively more foreign. I've sworn to myself numerous times that I'd stop playing DotA after 12 PM but I keep making the mistake TT

And then this guy picks magnus and says he's going mid... i think Wtf. my friend in skype on puck is like uhh no pudge is going mid man.. but the magnus like didn't care and went there too.... so annoying

There's a set priority when it comes to taking mid, regardless of anything else.

To be fair, it's likely he didn't hear you. Game sounds don't come through when alt-tabbed or he could have been just not listening. I usually am listening to music and only turn it down if people start using voice chat. If you want mid you gotta call it a few times, then rush buy items and run there asap.

No, thats completely wrong. You call it last after 2 people are already arguing about it. Then the three of you go mid and rage at each other for a couple minutes. After that you'll just say something along the lines of "OMG FU NOT GONNA PLAY WITH YOU BYE" and spend the rest of the 50 minute game killing jungle camps and end up 0-5-1.

Happened in a game I played yesterday, and no, I wasnt one of them.
