At low level every game as 2 people on the side lane and one mid (occasionaly a jungler), so the "meta" is always the same in that regard. In my experience the only time I played against a trilane (which is the current meta I guess) was in capitain mode, but that's not something you should really play with random players anyway. Dota is my first moba game, as it is for 2 of my friends and we're all having a lot of fun in dota eventhough we suck. Maybe dota is not for you, but don't claim that dota is impossible for casual players that's not true .

Things looked bad during the selection though, I had a drunk russian that insisted that i would ban riki, and when I refused wanted me to pick it (which I refused as well as it did not make any sense with what we had). So anyhow, we ended with CM, tide , naga , qop and shadowfriend (I picked this one last and at the last second ^^) vs puck, juggernaut, jakiro and brewmaster. Tidehunter started to do absolutely horribly, but thanks to CM wards on rune spots (happens so rarely at my skill level when i'm mid) i was able to do a couple successful rune ganks, and i had a good edge on my midlane vs puck. The game was kind of even, maybe a bit in their favour though, but then we started to teamfight and things got brutal. This initiation with song=>ravage=>shadowfienddulti+CM ulti+ QoP ulti was just glorious, we completly teamwiped them :D. I ended up being 24/2/12, and that was just awesome, so don't give up on capitain mode! My personal record is 27/1/4 as Lina. Pretty damn good tho. What was awesome was not that much to carry the game and get a good k/d/a, it was to see my picks work, carrying the game was just icing on the cake. To be honesnt my second favorite game is one where I was playing venomancer support and won the game while ending something like 0/9/30 thanks to go warding/support/coordination after a terrible start.

apart from deny, how is that different from lol
The fights are fast paced, health goes quick, active items everywhere, too much OP heroes, the game is not balanced.

Right now there are only 3 heroes which I'd happily call broken, and they aren't implemented in CM mode. The game is pretty balanced. And what is wrong with active items, fast paced fights or health disappearing quickly?
If you prefer LoL, then by all means play that game for whatever reason. But calling the game full of OP heroes and imbalanced when you've not really dived and learned the game is ignorant.

what the fuck did they do to the matchmaking recently? Or did they flood the game with new players?
Every game for the last 5-10 games have been mostly people with almost no wins in their profile. The last game I played, I was the only one with more than 15 wins (@ about 270 wins at the moment) And almost every game recently has had extremely lopsided scores... It's like they're trying to make people stop playing.
I also really dislike that the Diretide event has been going on for so long, it's sucking away people from normal matchmaking

You did not play the game enough to understand it.
Another example of ignorance at its best

Do people ever create smurfs to use with a friendly stack to tilt matchmaking in their favor? Played a game against a guy with 8 games stacked with 650 games player (they shared a few games), and 8 games guy raped the shit out of our team (about 100 win average among our players). Wasn't very pleasant, I understand 600 game player getting stuck with newbies and expected to carry, but the newbie carried hard. Maybe he just had a good game.
In self QQ news, start a game yesterday, random Slardar, some guy named boobs boobs says he will pick support as long as we are good with our pics. He came off kinda dicky to me so I didn't reply. Game starts and I proceed to play like shit. + Show Spoiler +I didn't feed but cant LH for shit, and miss quite a few opportunities to kill opponents. I bought a blink dagger, keep forgetting to use it, and sprint in instead (take extra dmg). Bought a bkb and activate it too late. Every teamfight I just cant think right, get lost and make bad decisions, like ulti Unduying cause I see him first instead of saving that for PA, etc. I was pretty tired and on tilt from own mistakes. Worst one was when Boobs ravaged PA twice and I ultied him but kept running back and forth changing my mind whether to attack or not cause I was at 1/4 hp and was afraid he will kill me and they will be mad at me for that (answer: attack while he was 2x ravaged and after use stun and kill To top it off our SS never joins us, and only 40 mins in we find out that he is from Spain and speaks no English (US East). But I'm almost as useful in teamfights as he is across the map. Now I expect boobs to start shitting all over me because I am fucking up bad. Him and another guy, do say something like "slardar that's why I asked if your good with your picks", or "slardar what was that". I apologize for having a bad game, but then a miracle happens.. Instead of flaming me boobs just goes full Suvorov/Patton on us. Gets the team to play together (though SS keeps ignoring us) and makes good calls on where to attack. I keep fucking up but he keeps telling me where to improve as politely as it can be done (i did deserve some shit for my plays, and the disappointed tone was there but he didn't flame). We even wipe them in few team fights when I dont mess up, but that happened too rarely=/. In the end they have a disconnect and we win but only cause it's 4v5. I commended the guy and hats of to him, because otherwise we woulda lost long before the disconnect, and if I were to follow through with his advice we'd win 5v5, but I was already on tilt and tired so that didn't happen. It was pretty good to play with people that, instead of flaming, try to make the best out of bad situation. The QQ is that it really feels crappy when you play so bad and tilt, even when your teammates are actually helpful. I would not have felt as bad if I was playing terrible but was among a bunch of assholes.

I do too, else my friends and I play on the first 10pages, which isn't really fun for them, nor for me. And yeah, playing like shit gives you the worst feeling ever

@ iokke I bet it was pseudoku! that guy has two smurf and he absolutely destroys!

Yes its harder man.
What about those stealth heroes? they are always stealth and they dont die.

dust/gem/sentries/slardar/bh/silence in rikis case.. If you're playing a 'tanky' hero like NS/Slardar/Ck, an early gem against an invis hero helps you so much.

No idea who that was but it was not fun. though again maybe he just had a good game and we bad
I think it's understandable if you create a smurf because you are much more experienced than friends you are stacking with (let's say you are at 500 wins and your friends are just starting up). Matchmaking will emphasize your "MMR" and you'll be forced to carry games while your friends will be against much stronger opponents, no fun for either (sorta like Singsing & Friends).
But if say there's 2 of you at 500 wins and 1 makes a smurf just to pubstomp opponents with less experience.. that's just mean.

I just wanna say fuck mids who don't call lich mia. Argh. And fucking supports who cant ward bc they "need" their boots that early.
I usually random, and if I get a carry, all 4 of the rest of the team usually go carry. So fucking stupid.

We're up 25-6 in the midgame and absolutely dominating, can win any time. But our Drow just HAAAAAAAAS to continue farming, and his friend backs him up so we drag it into late game and then they backdoor us during a push and we get wrecked.

pick drow and win or let the other team have drow and lose sigh

Ya there's nothing more fun than playing with 2 friends and 2 pubbies, picks allow 2 from our stack to go top, our guy mid, pubbies bot. then: Fiiiiiiirst BLOOOD!! DOUBLE KILL!!!
please let it be ours.. Look at the score board, nope, our bot just got wiped... Get a double kill in our top lane, ok! we sorta caught up!
DOUBLE KILL!! please let it be ... oh nm, bot is wiped again... rinse and repeat, beg bot to play D, nope, DOUBLE KILL!!
It happened a few times, and it's just like you said, if we manage to answer with a double kill in our lane, mid successfully helps out bot with ganks, and overall we continue to make up for other people's mistakes, we win much more often then we lose. But if our opponents are decent it becomes a pain.
Though I did have games were pubbies played better than us or even saved us from losing, but more often than not, it's the other way around. Oddly enough though, in one of our last game this scenario happened: back to back wipe at bot, but then they made up for their own mistakes. Centaur flipped the switch (op ulti?) and went on to destroy our opponents. Only frustrating thing was that he was saving double edge to make sure he took every kill, but we still won easily, and he was the one to initiate the ganks, so it's k i guess. I still think its better to let the hard carry get the kill as opposed to purposefully saving double edge for the killing blow, but it was such a wipe that it didn't matter.
in the spirit of the thread, QQ: stop saving your big damage dealers for the killing blow, especially when you take obvious kills from your carry. But given that game, it's not much to qq about;)

ever heard of dust/gem/sentries/slard/bh?
see you haven't played enough to make a correct judgement of the game.

It's sad to see how my team just cannot deal with broodmother. Even with AOE heroes like earth on my team, brood's spiders just kill towers after towers. "Oh you warded the lane so I can no longer hide in my web, I'll just go jungle".
By then she becomes too strong and brood's ulti makes her almost unkillable along with BKB, not to to mention her slow makes it impossible to escape.
