When people ask for rr (random rares), does that mean I can offer them any rares I'm holding (ones I want least) and they'll accept? or do they get to choose? If so, are all rares valuable in that they are used as currency? Because I've seen some rares traded for other rares at 1:3 ratio meaning even among rares, the popular ones are far more expensive. | ||

The value is just decided by popularity and rarity as you say. Random rares literally means that.. Just random rares. (Usually not taunts or something that's not items/wards). Sometimes they will say "Good rares", usually set pieces or something like that. Trash rares are often things like.. bloodseeker, omniknight, witchdoctor, morphling items, but unless they specify that they don't want those in particular, you can usually just hand them over. Letting them chose is generally just something you do to further persuade them or something along those lines. | ||

It's also worth noting that sites like dota2trade are pretty much 100% idiots looking to rip people off by offering 1:3 trades for whatever they have. That doesn't mean the stuff they're offering is necessarily valuable. It just means they're hoping to find someone who wants that particular item so badly and so urgently that they'll agree. Most chat spammers also do this. | ||

I guess that makes me a sucker for trading 3 rares for 1 last night.. Kind of wanted it to finish the set lol I'm also assuming it's much cheaper to buy piece by piece rather than the whole set since most of the pieces in a set are common or uncommon grade yet the whole set often goes for 2-3 keys. | ||

I stopped bothering with trading altogether as soon as I worked that out. If I spend even 15 minutes looking for a guy to trade a common with, I'm working at like 1c an hour. Trading can be worth it for bigger or rarer things, or new stuff that isn't saleable yet, but you can't go past the market for random bits and pieces to complete old sets. | ||

Just to follow up, Random Rares are typically any Rare Equipment type item, because people like to gamble with them on DotA matches. | ||
