My siblings play skyrim on my computer (max settings 1080p) when I'm not here and they tell me that a couple times, all the clothes/armor in the game become white and if they keep playing, the game crashes (can't remember if just game or all computer). Would that count as an artifact? this was at stock clocks, no OC, though. i've never seen it myself and after playing skyrim for 40 minutes, nothing happened, the game ran normally. thoughts? i don't think much of it as every other game i've played (far cry 3 and il-2 clod more than the others) haven't encountered a single problem.

I guess the GPU is heavily narrowed down by budget so lets set 150-200 as the budget for GPU. I'll prob buy a new gpu during the sale days so the specifcs are unknown. Let's limit it to a 680 nvidia as highest and 460 lowest (from friend). (No clue what the amd equivalent is). At this range would Nvidia or AMD perform better for these range of cards? Now I tried reading more on PSU and still unsure how to judge what I need. What PSU is required for this setup assuming the 680 (highest gpu) is used? Can you please provide like 3 options of PSU I guess $100 or less (abit more is ok)

Hmm ya nothing beats the Capstone in value. Hmm why buy two 1TB drives? Why not just buy one 2TB drive for like $50 less? Why buy a Samsung 840 Pro?

No idea. ![]() It really sounds like artifacts, but it just might be a bug in the game. On that note, I remembered something someone said about how to overclock on an AMD card. According to that, there's a good chance to not have artifacts while still going too high with the settings. There is some sort of error checking going on. You should always check with some sort of benchmark after increasing clocks. If the benchmark results start to decrease, it's already too much and the error checking has started to fix something by repeating calculations.

I Just threw that in there for a 2TB capacity. Honestly it will be whatever I find on sale Why buy a Samsung 840 Pro? Last time I asked i think that was the answer cant find the post way far back. I'm probably wrong so what SSD would you recommend (not sure if i want 128 or 256 gb range)

For ~250gb and up I'd get the M500 - more reliable, the speed difference isn't that big and its cheap(atleast it is over here ).For ~120gb I'd get the samsung - Awesome performance.

Intel too, and maybe some others, but it gets more complicated. The performance and endurance differences are largely inconsequential to the desktop user.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/6325/crucial-v4-256gb-review ^grabbed quick from google Btw, i think this is looking pretty good Stock Kaveri A10 vs gt630 More interested in the steamroller cores. With Kaveri launch two months out, we should have info soon. Seems pretty hard to know what to expect i think, but ~15-20% faster singlethreaded performance would be sweet There's also the performance penalty from running both cores in the same module in a typical task - for Piledriver right now, if you run one thread in a module and score ~100 on a benchmark, you'll often score only ~170 by running both. Result of this is that on an Intel core for example, if you score ~150 on a single core benchmark, you can multiply that by the number of cores (say 600 for a quad core) and you're right about where performance will be. On an AMD 8 core though, you don't get 8x performance from 4 module 8 thread - it's only about ~6.7 - 6.8x or so in many actual tasks. If we get a boost to singlethreaded performance and less penalty from running both "cores" in a module simultaneously for a normal task (through the added decoders or whateverthehell honestly i can't even remember most of the steamroller stuff) then they would be added multiplicatively and could look great. 120*3.6 is way faster than 100*3.4 (432 vs 340) Also, that dude calls it Kav-aahri. Am i saying it wrong? That way sounds so uncool

The performance improvements are largely coming from each integer core getting its own decoder so performance isn't so much significantly worse when you're using both simultaneously.

I'm kinda worried though still hearing nothing on >4 core steamroller.. Looks like they have nothing to compete with Haswell i5's
