I am thinking about buying a headset since I started playing Heroes of the Storm because it's so important to communicate well in teamgames. When I played SCII I didn't need one and used a microphone + speakers to skype from time to time. When I play Hots with my girlfriend in the same room, it's hard to communicate via microphone. What kind of Headset would you guys recommend? Shouldn't be much more than 50,-

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487091 For a monitor, if you don't need height or other stand adjustments and prefer or don't mind a glossy panel (if there's a window or any light source behind a glossy monitor, this is very bad), the Dell S2340M for $170 is reasonable: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA6BM2WP3879 I looked around some but didn't find amazing deals available on monitors. You could probably also save on shipping and hassle by getting similar parts from the same retailer rather than having that many different orders. If you need help with this, ask.

Any advice on these? Quality should be ok and what's most important is that it is comfortable to wear / not too heavy.

The GTX 960 is significantly worse but also quite up to the task for 1080p60 gaming on medium/high settings. edit: HyperX Cloud seems relatively popular but I've not used any of those.

The GTX 960 is significantly worse but also quite up to the task for 1080p60 gaming on medium/high settings. It is, but high end cards are literally three times faster. With only 2GB of VRAM and the performance it has, i classify it as low end gm206 = 8smm, 128 bit, 2GB ----- gtx960 gm204 = 13-16smm, 224-256 bit, 3.5 - 4GB ----- 970, 980 gm200 = 22-24smm, 384 bit, 6GB ----- 980ti, Titan some models have doubled VRAM (4GB 960's which should be mostly avoided, plus Titan 12GB) but there's pretty clear scaling there. We have three chips (low end, midrange, high end) - the midrange is approx 2x as fast as low and the high end is approx 3x as fast. The naming scheme of this gen has just been terrible all around with the 980ti and 960 in particular being out of place. They don't clarify properly how strong/weak they are in the lineup (960 being weaker than imagined and 980ti actually being in a different class to 980)

They're expensive at full price, but they go on sale fairly often. I've seen them drop down to about 40-50% off a few times. Don't buy the refurbished version, they're garbage. You'll get booms that won't stay up and damaged headphone padding. Sound quality is solid. I keep one at work for listening to music. There's a "surround sound" mode that you can toggle that I'm a fan of. These are circumaural and active noise cancelling. It takes some getting used to since the brain isn't a huge fan of the normal every day background noise being suppressed, but it blocks out noise around you quite well. The same isn't true for the microphone; it will pick up noises around you (a loud keyboard, someone talking, etc.). I wouldn't recommend getting them at full price (~120 USD), but if you can get them around the 60-80 USD mark they're solid.

Much easier to give you advice if you have an idea how much you're approximately willing to spend. Generally picking up a cheapo mic and headphones is the far superior solution though, the vast majority of gaming headsets are horrible, and even the "okay" ones are overpriced. You'll get certainly get better audio when buying equivalently priced headphones + a £5 mic, which you can always upgrade to a nicer one later on. Also, please don't buy from mindfactory, never had any good experiences with them, they're quite notorious for sending out used products as new goods.

As I mentioned above, I want to spend around 50,-. I think you are right, that many gaming headsets are pretty much useless if you dont spend tons of money, and even then - as you stated - many are overpriced because of brands and/or design... Do you have any recommendations for good headphones around ~50? Would you recommend wireless or wired headphones? About mindfactory: I can't say anything bad about them. I bought parts for two complete systems and everything was fine so far. Guess you can have good/bad experiences with most shops but I don't mind buying from anywhere else.

![]() Entry-level graphics cards are becoming obsolete faster than I expected. It'll be pointless to buy anything below a GTX 960 / R9 280 for Skylake i5 processors.

I'm not super sure on the prices but the Audio Technica ATH-T400, AKG Y50, and AKG K540 are all decent, circumaural headphones that should be ~around your price range.
