What's with the chance for leaks? What do the manufacturers promise? I see no point to use the low budget 120mm clc. It's completely insufficient for overclocking a 4770k and a liability at stock like you say

How significant will the difference in HSF between ~$30 Hyper 212+ and ~$50 Zalman/True Spirit? And 140mm vs 120mm? Memory: 1333 vs 1600? And will a 550M Capstone be sufficient for overclocking? Also, I plan on having 2 HDDs (not RAID), with a possible SSD in the future. Should I plan on buying extra case fans? And how much/which one would be decent, assuming noise isn't a factor. How long does building + installing basic stuff + getting a stable overclock (complete OC'ing beginner here) usually take? I had hoped to spend this 3 day weekend (President's weekend) building it but I haven't bought the parts yet and might get most of them online. And speaking of President's weekend, any deals going around? Checked Newegg but doesn't seem to be anything.

Corsair 200R won't fit a True Spirit 140. True Spirit 140 is 170mm in height while a Corsair 200R only has clearance for 160mm. Not sure what Zalman you're talking about but the flower ones aren't very good asides from looking nice. Yes, Capstone 550m is more than enough. 4670k + 7850 is going to hover somewhere around 200w. If this is your first time building then it's probably going to take you a good half of the day.

Also, I'm looking for a GPU that can run League of Legends and SC2 on max settings though it seems that crypto-currency mining have raised the prices for the cards I had been eyeing...

Starcraft II and League of Legends aren't graphically intensive games. A GTX 650 Ti around $120 can run both games on max. If you want mesh than look at the Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 or Corsair Carbide 400R (white LEDs). Both are around $90.

As for the case, I really like the Arc Midi R2, I saw it awhile ago and I really think I might finally get it!

I don't like the cooler, but that's just opinion. I'd rather have an air cooler like for example Noctua NH-U14S for $75 or Phanteks PH-TC14PE for $85. The RAM is slow. You should be able to find something that's not much more expensive at 2133 speed or so. The motherboard might be a little crappy and its price seems like a joke. Regarding the graphics card, I'd look for whatever is the most quiet card. I think that EVGA you mention is "blower style" so it's perhaps noisy? There's another EVGA that's "open air" like the Gigabyte. [If you look at pictures, you'll understand what those terms mean.] For that price, I'd want a PSU around 650W to 750W that's "Platinum" rated instead of Gold. That will still be good enough for a possible second graphics card. I don't know if the monitor is good for work. You should ask in the monitor thread. I think if it would be for myself, I'd build a PC that's a lot more modest and a lot cheaper even if it's for work, instead use the money to buy two or three better monitors or something. You should know best what your programs need. There might be some threads for choosing parts in whatever forums you read regarding your programs.

As mentioned, 1600MHz memory for $160 is really bad? Just a quick gives you 1866MHz for the same price: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007GWMR6U/ You probably don't need anything better than a Z87X-D3H or Z87X-UD3H if you want to be spendy.. If you care about sound, I think you're better off getting a sound card than having whatever Creative chipset MSI elected to put on the G45 Gaming. Hale90 v2 is good but probably questionable at $200.

I cringe everytime I see people get 60Hz TN monitors with a high-end computer. I didn't used to agree, i do now. A lot of places have really cheap monitors (UK pays like 1.7x as much as US does for example) and you can get way better stuff
