After seeing this thread, I believe it is a problem with the headset itself, as I have the exact same problem with the TTesports Shock Headset too. I've spent ages trying to figure out a solution to the problem but to no avail.

When you have sound coming through your speakers do the little bars next to microphone on that window light up?

OK, this seems to be a problem more people have, I myself used this headset for some months (now it finally died and I had an excuse to buy a new one) and my friends could hear everything I did over Skype. Even when I muted my mic they heard all the background sounds and music. Went as far as I couldn't 1v1 them anymore while on skype coz they would hear my mutas pop and this stuff^^. But yea TTesports headsets seem to have a problem with their mics, but they are really kinda cheap so you can't really expect that much (I paid for my headset 40€; apart from the mic its a really good headset)

thanks for all the help so far guys! unfortunately I've had this problem across mics (logitech precision gaming headset, razer piranha, and now the shock).

Might be a VIA onboard driver issue. Tried updating those from your mobo manufacturer? If it's really driving you nuts, you could look into a cheap discrete sound card, like a Xonar DG, if you have the slots for it.

Is there anywhere else on your pc you can plug your headset into? On my pc if I plug my headset in on the front, everyone can hear my game/system sounds on skype, even with the mic muted, but the problem is solved if I plug it in in the back.

I have been having the same problem, no clue how to fix it.
"Yep, they hear me and game sound, music, etc. If I mute my mic and play music for example, it will still pick up the music. I think it might be a software issue, as this randomly started happening a few weeks ago (after having no issues)." This exactly this. Headset: Razer carcharias. Motherboard: Gigabyte B75M-D3H. And im not using USB slot for my mic or speakers its the normal ones.

Do you have the VIA software installed? Maybe check that for faulty setting. I don't know exactly how it works but maybe there is a stereo mix setting enabled in there that doesn't show up in the windows audio devices.

I'd suggest you use the Windows Game bar to record audio/screen, it supports to record from an app directly, so it won't interfere with other programs. Also, you can try these top 5 free streaming audio recorders. Hope they are helpful to you.

Is it because you opened some recording software?
Anyway, when I use joyoshare audio recorder it works just fine, not record anything arbitrarily.
Or you check the mic, plug it to other computer and see if the problem persists.

I had the same problem with my headset (g231 logitech) and i had it plugged in at the front but when i plugged then straight in the motherboard it was all fine and had no issues with the mic picking up game audio or anything

(note if it already plugged in straight to motherboard idk)
