Ducky has keyboards without LED aswell.

http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=184 http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=188

Hello Everyone!
I've been lurking on here for ages now and have read through the OP a number of times, since I've decided to shell out some money for a good mouse and keyboard.
Unfortunately, one of my problems is that I'm finding it hard to get all of these keyboards where I live in Australia. I've basically narrowed down my choice to one of the following two Ducky keyboards, but they both cost exactly the same amount and I was wondering if anybody could give me some feedback on which one I should choose:
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=113_1276&products_id=23402 http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=113_1276&products_id=23350
I've decided that brown switches would probably be best, is this a good idea for somebody completely new to mechanical keyboards? I've got pretty much a full choice from that site. I should add that I will be using it predominately for gaming (RTS and MOBAs), I'm not really worried a great deal about how nice it is to type on (Basically I mostly type on my laptop at uni, I just can't stand using the laptop keyboard for starcraft).
Also, one concern for me is I've heard that some mechanical keyboards can be very loud when typing, which is a minor issue for me. Is this a very serious problem, and if so is there any easy way I can counteract that? I'd be willing to pay a bit more if that would easily fix the problem.
Thanks heaps everyone! This thread has been super helpful
EDIT: Would this one maybe be suitable as well, it's a bit cheaper and as I've read the red switches are good for gaming:

Yeah can't escape the wasd leds + Caps Lock and Scroll Lock leds unfortunately. That's the Ducky keyboard I have that you linked. I love it but yeah if you don't want any leds at all you should go for something else.

The first one you linked has PBT keycaps which is of much higher quality than standard abs keycaps which is a +. Second one you linked does not have PBT keycaps but have leds which might be a + if you have problems writing in the dark or just like the look of it. Brown is totally ok for gaming and many sc2 players use brown switches.
Brown switches doesn't sound that much if you type lightly but if you bottom out and press very hard then ofcourse it's gonna sound a bit. You can buy dampeners here http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/cherry-mx-rubber-switch-dampeners.html
On the first keyboard with PBT keycaps they have used dye sublimation which is a technique that causes the dye to sink into the plastic. So should be impossible for the printing to be worn out.

Sweet thanks!
Since I typed that I actually ended up asking a friend who lives nearby about it and found a good place really close to me, so I'll be getting the CoolerMaster Quickfire Brown Switches, but thanks for the reply it helped to re-assure me that I'm making the right choice

Well that's a good choice too

Try all of the switches! then you can get a feel for linear (blacks or reds) vs click/bumpy (blues/browns)
I tried a steelseries just to feel blacks and if you have big or heavy hands blacks are quite nice for the short period I tried.
Its all preference though so its nice to feel. I have wonders on clears/greens now >_>

has anyone experienced shopping keycaps on taobao tmall site ?

You can't go wrong with anything from CM. I swear by them and I recommend their boards to basically everyone unless they can find something significantly cheaper.

The only issue that people (incl. myself) have run into is a batch of QFR keyboards (I believe mostly red switch models) had bad solder on the left ALT keyswitch. I bought my board new so I was able to RMA with Cooler Master.

He was looking for a keyboard without LEDs. He would absolutely hate the Ducky Shine 2 then. Also..the Ducky Shine 3 is coming out in like a week or so if you're interested in returning that for the newer one.

The only thing some people would gripe about it is that it was made by iOne (I believe they switched OEMs though, not sure), but even so I still found no faults with it other than only it being a partially lit LED keyboard.

Last year when they were entering the mechanical keyboard market, I had to pester them three times when I had to RMA my QFR. It was the same for many others as well from what I could tell.

hey guys, I acquired a CM QuickFire Rapid this weekend for my birthday! (Black cherry MX - couldn't find brown in UK).
The keyboard is working fine in USB, and my mobo has 2 ps/2 ports but when I plug it in it doesn't seem to be getting recognised. I tried plugging it in and restarting (as apparently ps/2 ports don't get picked up like USB PnP do) but to no avail. I have looked in my BIOS and device manager to find a way to enable my ps/2 ports but I can't find anything which matches that description.
Can anyone recommend anything? I think the keyboard should be ok in USB mode, but I know to have maximum benefits out of a mech keyboard it's better to have it ps/2 so if I can get it setup that would be fantastic!
EDIT - Problem resolved, read that the green port is for mouse, purple for keyboard and I had it in green, doh!

But aren´t Keyboards importent to win? ^^

I just received my ThermalTek Meka G1. Black switches. My first impression was that doggone I'll have to clean it often because it's white. Then, like others, I realized how hefty this thing is. The main cord itself is so large it could have been a sex toy. The USB and sound plugs have bee moved to the top right of the board instead of right side of the original design. I am trying to get use to the black switches right now. Coming from membrane, it's very strange to have keys actuate before it bottoms out, for blacks it actually register half way, but there's no feedback so you bottom out. You end up doing a lot of tttttttttttthese unintentionally. But overall, it feels very solid. If anyone is wondering what people meant by that, imagine your membrane key caps would never shake or tilt. And because the board is like 3 pounds, it would also never wobble. I am liking it so far, my apm hasn't went down at all, which is really weird. I think the 1000hz polling rate or the half way actuation point might have actually increased the key repeat rate somehow. Made it easier to spam drones.

Anyone know if Ducky are going to do a pink version of their third mechanical keyboard? Hate the backlights on them, look so tacky

The best Mechanicle Keyboard is ... (In my Opinion 1.Ducky 2.Das 3.Zowie) What do you think <3 :D
