As requested, a crappy cell pic of my nighthawk X9, back from customization (base of MX reds, fkeys, numpad, tilde, FN, esc, capslock, and backspace MX browns, enter, windows, and page MX black)
It's nowhere near as bright as it is in the picture, 3 levels of backlighting and a pulse mode similar to razer
Expensive, but I don't think I'm going to be replacing this keyboard until it breaks.
I'm glad you got what you wanted and hope it works out for you but my god that's the 'busiest' looking keyboard I've ever seen. I don't think I could handle so much lighting.
By the way can we start spoiling other posts that has pictures and YT videos when quoting? Makes it a bit more difficult to scroll/read other posts. Rant aside.. I think this one has it beat by far in terms of 'busy'.

It's a lot less blaring in person. The glare really does make it look busy, but in person, it's much more subtle. the blue barely stands out against the white and the only colors that stick out dramatically are the green esc and arrow keys (this board doesn't have the massive under-key backlighting that other boards have, it's only present under max backlighting and it's predominantly a faint white light behind the keys, the blue and reds don't bleed into it. With the number 2 light setting, all you see are the colors on the keys themselves, which is nicely subdued)
I'll get another picture with my SLR today
My only real complaints are that the numlock, capslock, and G mode lights are too bright, but it's not the end of the world.
I'm really liking typing on it, the mix of tactile clicks when I use the esc, tilde (my PTT key) and backspace mixed with the light, linear taps of the reds and the firm resistance of the blacks on the enter key is very satisfying.
Ducky shine is really going too far with the lighting gimmicks. It's fun to see, but I really don't see it as a selling point, because it's just so visually garish. I think my keyboard's mix of white, blue, green and red is pushing it. One feature I would like is to have the ability to change each key's backlighting individually (though I'd prefer it without the insane amount of behind-key lighting that I see in the ducky demo boards. It'd be fun to mix it up from time to time, I'm locked in with the colors I chose (well, MAX will change them anytime if I want, but it costs me shipping and about a week of time, not worth it.)
Makes sense. I think it's cool you did the full custom. I'd like to do that someday. For now I just have a filco majestouch with mx browns and a tenkeyless CM storm with blues. I can't justify buying a 3rd keyboard, but I'd prefer to get a tenkeyless brown. We will see. :D
Yeah, having a couple boards would be nice (the BWU is just too big to really qualify as a second keyboard, I'm probably just going to hang onto it as a keyboard to use when I get a desk job. No use for it right now as an EMT, hehe) but you should try out a tenkeyless board with reds. I hated my friend's steelseries at first, but once I switched from blues to reds, I am never going to use blues and their irritating inaccuracy again. that tactile bump where the clickey component retracts gives such an uneven response, it's beyond annoying.

I accidentally spilt alot of water on my mech keyboard.
some keys, when I hit it say the U button, it will type u and v at the same time randomly. also, when I boot up my pc from sleep mode, my pc makes a sound as if it does not recognize any keyboard and my keyboard is not able to boot my pc up from sleep...
is this a sign my keyboard is permanently messed up? I am so upset.

you should of unplugged it right way and let it air dry for a day or 2. Its most likely messed up.
Alright guys I have a question. I bought a Das Model S about a half year ago and I admit I loved the blue switches and how they felt. At first the typing experience seemed to be more "difficult" for lack of a better term; in regards to typing fast and accurately. I attributed it to just being a newer keyboard that I wasn't used to. So after all this time I am still not feeling the keyboard and have switched back to using a little $10 Logitech from walmart. I have figured out that I don't like the "height" of the keys on the Das compared to the lower profile keys on the Logitech. Is there even a such thing as a "low profile" mechanical keyboard? If the keys were the same height on both keyboards, I would definitely still be using the Das. I've searched google but haven't come up with anything solid and figured I'd ask the gurus! Thanks for any advice you have to offer.
I've never liked chiclet style keyboards. They feel flimsy and imprecise. But if you've been using the keyboard for a few months and aren't feeling it yet, you may want something like what skyR posted. That said, try something with browns if you want tactile feedback. After two years with blues, I have come to the conclusion that they're completely pointless.

I got home and my keyboard is working perfectly now...
really happy.. Will any parts rust possibly though?
I bet it won't go bad. You should still try to see if you can manage to open it up to make it dry out well and fast. If water is trapped somewhere covered, it can take a very long time to dry and that might be bad.

any idea how he did the LEDs? He got varying colours for the same key. if this works for the slow motion reactive mode for shine 3, omg
Does anyone know where I can find a nice, under $150 87 key keyboard with brown switches??
Qtan doesn't have any and won't for months, Gmarket doesn't have any Leopolds. I'm going to have to import it from somewhere in asia I guess but I am lost as to where to look.

Once you add VAT they're a little out of my price range unfortunately. I'll probably just wait till browns are back in stock on a cheaper keyboard somewhere.
Cooler Master's Quickfire TK is only 50.95 delivered on Amazon. Fantastic deal on a quality keyboard. I ordered one a few days ago. Long advertised dispatch time (1 to 3 months), but I've heard of others seeing the same on other product and they shipped out earlier than that. I'm prepare to wait a few weeks, though, that's for sure
