There are several Variables.txt files in the "Documents\StarCraft II" Directory, which ones apply?

Is it enough to edit just the one in "Documents\StarCraft II" or do I have to change each Variables.txt within the corresponding "Documents\StarCraft II\Accounts" folders? Or both?

I just finished building this build http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=137554&currentpage=1447#28931 and everything seems to be working fine. When I installed the OS it gave me the option to install on SSD or HDD, I installed on SSD. When I go into device manager both drives show up, but when I open up My Computer only my SSD shows up where it says Hard Disk Drives. What gives?

Did you initialize it and format the drive? I had a jackass on ebay buy a hdd from me, and then complain it was broken because he didnt realize you have to format it into ntfs first (search "create and format hard disk partitions"). Are you in AHCI mode for both drives in bios?

Waffling, That is ddr1 RAM, not comparible with a DDR3 motherboard or CPU. Even if it was compatible (it's nowhere near close) and you could set voltage that high, it would probably near-instantly kill the memory controller on any ivy bridge CPU, because it's designed for 1.5v DDR3 (with 1.65v kits being common and fine and some extreme overclockers pushing it a bit further)

Never heard of the brand before, it seems generic (1333mhz cl9 1.5v 2x4gb) you should probably get corsair, kingston, gskill whatever RAM over some name you can spend many months in build resource thread without hearing or having seen anywhere before

Where are you buying from? (country, limited to that site etc?)

And what for? General build, gaming etc, no overclocking?

I don't think that's an unknown brand. I remember always seeing that name when looking through RAM prices, even years ago. They also write they have lifetime warranty on their website, so probably can't be too bad.

USA California. not limited to that site, but they have the best shipping costs and tax benefits. I know newegg charges you to ship back defective products (and charges you tax and higher shipping).

i'm going to do a mild easy overclock. The computer is for a friend. He has a 13 year old kid who plays some games, but probably not too too heavy. I'm also looking to future proof them in the next 5 years, so I think an overclock is good, or at least the ability to. I have a GTX 650 Ti so that should cover him just fine for most games.

I don't think i should be so concerned about OCing the RAM. I've read there is not much difference.

For RAM, I can go with two of these for a total of 8GB.

By mild OC do you mean like 4ghz or 4.5? Even for 4.5 it might be worth spending a bit (~35?) more on motherboard, and you mean 3570k build right?

If you're not going 4.5, maybe best to step down on cpu a bit (to 3470 or 3350p, whatever costs less out of locked ivy bridge i5's) or even get a slightly cheaper board to save money

Ram OC is very little performance gain and yea, pretty much any RAM will do. 1600mhz cl9 is the standard, but 1333 is only a few % performance difference.. Personally i wouldn't mess around with rebate though, you should just be able to get 8gb 1600cl9 1.5/1.65v for $45 or something? Not much more than 40, and no waiting 3 months for rebate, or however those things work in the US (they don't really exist here AFAIK)

yeah 4.4 at most for 3570k. Even for 4.4 GHz, I should use a hyper 212+ at least, and not stock, right?

what would make it worth the additional $35 for a better motherboard? It's not for insanely heavy gaming, or likely to be noticed by my friend's family. Performance gains are most noticed in the 4.4 overclock, which can be done with the G41 mobo. They'd definitely want to keep the $35, esp if I can't justify it either.

G41 was the cheapest OC 1155 socket board I've heard. Are there cheaper OC boards I can get from microcenter that will do the job without major limitations?
(btw, i factored in the $40 combo discount for buying a cpu and mobo into the CPU and not into the mobo, so please do compare mobos without the discount.)

The lowest price i can find for 8gb cl9 ram is 54, which is $14 more than 4 sticks of 2GB RAM.

I have a question. this site seems to suggest the 3570k cannot support 4 channels of RAM, only 2. is this right?

Dual channel, you can support 4 modules.

212+ is good for 4.4, you don't want stock cooler

Overclocking on lower end boards is a little sketchy, just make sure you can do what you want to do

RAM is so god damn expensive now
