I then turned it back on and it went to the black screen with the monitor showing me it was cycling through inputs or w/e (which I don't think it normally does on startup, though maybe I wouldn't know since I usually just put my pc to sleep mode while I sleep) and finally it went back to the normal bootup and everything seems fine at the moment.
So anyway I was just wondering if anyone has any sort of clue as to what could have happened? I haven't really had any big problems with this computer before and it is just 10 months old.
Sorry if this post is weird/confusing, just haven't experienced anything like this before and want to make sure it can't become a bigger problem in the future. Sounds like a GPU issue, did you get any message of drivers crashing and restarting or something similar? Yeah I was thinking GPU also since my monitor is connected directly to the video card. I didn't get any messages or anything like that, probably should have given it another minute before turning off the computer. GPU randomly losing output sounds like it's on it's last legs tbh, how old is your GPU and what model is it?

Mine is also being dodgy, who knows, perhaps there is some major defect with a batch of the cards?

For the purpose of drag scrolling in SC2 (i use it as my primary camera movement method outside of camera hotkeys and minimap clicks as unlike moving mouse to edge of screen, it has unlimited move speed and can be done more easily and quickly) i would like to increase mouse sensitivity by a factor of 2-5 while i have scroll wheel pressed down, and go back to normal when i release the key, some quick googling doesn't reveal any simple way of doing this, does anyone have any suggestions? Im using a Deathadder (3500dpi version) with 3.03 drivers.

I've decided to buy a legal copy of Win7. Which version should I get? Are there any features in the Pro version that are essential?

I'm sorry if this isn't really tech related, but where the hell is my 'Favorites' category in the new youtube layout? It's frustrating that they keep changing it and trying to improve something that is not broken. At least a tutorial would be nice.
edit: nvm it was under playlists, holy shit that is retarded

Neither. They both make fine graphics cards. Which company offers more bang-for-buck changes regularly as new videocards are released and also depends on the price-range you're looking at.
When you ask random people, a lot will prefer one brand over the other, because they had bad experiences with the other brand or because of some misguided brand loyalty (which is a ridiculous concept in computer hardware anyway). But the truth is that there is no clear winner in terms of performance/features/price, unlike for example the CPU market for most purposes.

The poster above me got it pretty well but currently I'd say AMD radeon wins in most price brackets.

So, I bought a new monitor, some kinda Fujitsu 23' and it has some options on it I dont quite understand. I'm not very tech-sawy so could someone explain to me what "OC" and "ACR" means and what they do. All I see is that when I turn on or off the ACR my screen goes bright or dim, I'm guessing that's pretty much it huh?

Quick, maybe dumb question regarding ISP usage limits:
If you set up your Android phone as an FTP server, and use your desktop as a client to upload files to your Android phone for the sake of transferring files wirelessly (yes I know you can just plug a USB cable, please don't respond with that), does that count against your usage limit per month?

ACR is advanced contrast ratio.

If you are using the data network, it will count towards your mobile usage. If you are using your home network's wifi, it will count towards internet usage.

I'm looking for suggestions on a new computer desk and chair, or places to look for them. The key to me is value and comfort, then build quality.
I am currently using a 10 year old corner desk from ikea and leather chair from staples. Each probably cost me around $50, and they feel like it.. not very comfortable. The chair I sit on at work I think costs around $1000 brand new. I don't want to spend anywhere near that, but I'm okay with anything from $100-300 on each product.
Anyone have any suggestions?
For the desk, my current one is similar in style to this one: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40180061/ What I like about it is the extra shelves for storage purposes.. but what I don't like is this setup makes it hard to set up dual monitors (24"). I would like to use dual monitors for my next desk. Would you recommend a plain desk? Or one with shelves?
|
Shelves or not is up to the individual. If you want to use shelves than get one with shelves.
You can probably pick up an Ikea Jerker or Fredrik for like around $100 used off your local Craigslist. Seems like what you're looking for? Wide, open, shelves. The Fredrik costs about $180 brand new iirc, its worse than its Jerker predecessor which is discontinued by Ikea. The Galant is more expensive and better if yo u want a desk without shelves.
You can also try getting an Herman Miller Aeron or Steelcase Leap for about $500 off your local Craigslist as well.

Hi.
I'm looking to make like a music list. I'm wondering, if the following exist, what is the best out there of it:
1. A website where you can pull up songs that you like and make a playlist of them, and has a large selection of songs to choose from. Radio sites comes close but the selection tends to be small and with the random selection the song i want generally doesnt come up exactly. But a free website, is what I'm looking for (so im guessing it may not exist). Playlist.com seems to come pretty close to this but the selection doesn't seem that large (and for some reason some of the songs are like chopped)
2. A program, i suppose like itunes, but isn't a huge resource hog. I'd just pirate the music i want (i already bought the cds for the music im looking for, just dont have a cd drive) and create the playlist ezpz. But the best program for this purpose, is what i dont really know.
Thanks

Last.fm ?
A program like itunes.. so basically a music player? What's wrong with Foobar or Winamp?

So I was thinking about building myself a computer. If i want to play HOTS on high-max settings how much should i be spending. Since I was thinking about buying a laptop anyway I think a good budget is about 600$. Do you think thats enough or should i spend a little bit more.
Also the last question is do you think computer parts go on sale during cyber monday or it won't make too big of a difference?

Overclocking is a bit out of his hands if its for a laptop.
That being said. I wouldnt suggest buying a laptop. Not for gaming anyway. People get serious buyers remorse with that. And for $600 I dont think you will get much.
