I love it. Keys are rubber coated and feel really good. But I wish it was mechanical. Backlighting is awesome.

this is the one im going to get eventually:

Razer Blackwidow Ultimate

this one is mechanical, backlit, and/but has super loud keys. I personally love that.

Buying the Ultimate version of Blackwidow is completely unneccessary, in the normal version you dont have the useless usb port, sound thingie and not the backlighting on the buttons (which is also useless, even at lans and in the dark) and the difference in price is extreme. But I still recommend this keyboard the non-ultimate version of it that is.

well from my experience, going from a nonlit keyboard to a lit keyboard was tremendous. I live in a studio apartment with my wife and she cant sleep with one of the room lights on. I need the backlighting personally.

You look at your keyboard when you type?
A game where the first thing you do is scout with a “worker”. Does that make any sense? Who scouts with a “worker”? That’s like sending out the janitor to perform recon, what general would do that? Retarded game.

Why do you need backlighting? It's not like you have to look at your keyboard while you type?

Not everyone touch types, and some people get especially disconcerted when they can't see the keys as they do it.

My hands know exactly where ever key is and I could write down my entire keyboard layout, yet I still get things wrong plenty times if I can't see the keys. it's a mental thing. I look down every couple of seconds to make sure I'm not going all fat-fingers. Doing this I've went from tons of mistakes every sentence to making hardly any at all, which overall increases my typing speed as I spend less time correcting my mistakes.

the first day i got my keyboard with blank keys i actually screwed up alot for no reason. definitely a random psychological thing that makes no sense since i dont look at the keyboard for anything besides the number row before my das anyways...

but i mean i got over it in like a day, have you tried sticking with it?

I think I can help you here, OP: I'm using the exact same keyboard on Windows right now. You'll find absolutely no problems using it in Windows. The only thing is, of course, that your "command" key is now a "Windows" key which can throw you off if you used command instead of control for putting units in control groups.

I haven't had any issues at all. It's just like having a normal, good Bluetooth keyboard. You don't have to get another one unless you really just want a new keyboard.

You might want to consider editing this out. One of the TL rules is that you can't advertise and, even though this is a keyboard thread, I don't think the mods would take kindly to this.

Blackwidow for first time mechanical keyboard users. If you decide after a while you don't like it you only wasted what 70 bucks? Then later on you could make an investment in a more expensive keyboard with they layout you like and features you want. Also the blackwidow can be programmed to fit out of game task needs as well as it already has built in media keys. By far a solid buy imo. Also Jinro uses it nuff said.

yea black widdow keyboard is great for first time users who dont feel like spending too much mulah on a mech keyboard. Its actualy more silent than other mech keyboards because of the double insulated caps. Definite must try/buy for first time mech users

Sent you a PM.

On Topic: I used to use a Saitek Cyborg V5. Great keyboard, has a backlight (if you want it you can always turn it off), and will hold up to a lot of abuse. The F keys are closer than your standard keyboard (even though they are a big smaller).

Today, Elitekeyboards.com just released their newsletter and is now accepting pre-orders for their new Leopold keyboards (The ones that are to replace the Filco brands at their online store).

Spoilered below is the copy-pasted newsletter.

+ Show Spoiler +
Greetings EK Subscribers!

What's New:

Leopold Tenkeyless Cherry MX Keyboards are finally available for
Pre-Order at a GREAT introductory price!

http://www.elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=leopold,tenkeyless

This first batch includes 3 varieties which we expect to begin shipping in
the last week of March. Quantities in this first run are limited, so this is
first come first serve.

** Additionally, due to many recent inquiries; we've compiled a FAQ
regarding Leopold keyboards below!

Also, new lower prices on Clack Factory keycaps for both Cherry MX:
http://www.elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=access,cherrymxkeys

and Topre switch-based keyboards (plus 2 new colors!):
http://www.elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=access,toprekeys

** Leopold FAQ **

Q1: Are the Leopold Tenkeyless available with switch A, color B, non-printed, etc?
A1: What you see on our website is what's in the first batch. All other
options are being or have been considered, but are at the least 8 weeks
out. E-mails to this tune will be regarded as suggestions; rhetorical
questions

Q2: Will there be a Full-Size Leopold with numberpad?
A2: A full-size Leopold keyboard is currently under production and
samples are being evaluated, but we have no solid estimate on it's
availability state-side.

Q3: Are there plans for ISO layout Leopold keyboards with legends for my language?
A3: ISO layout boards are in the works, but no commitments have been
made so far as to what languages will be available or the timeline for
availability.

Please see our general FAQ for questions on shipping, etc:

Note that they only have tenkeyless (no numpad) keyboards at the moment, and the keyboards are expected to ship at the end of march.

Hope that helps! I just pre-ordered one with cherry blue switches if that at all influences your decision making.

Hi. I'm playing SC2 on a Mac (yes I see automatic hate on me for this), but as I started to play more and more I'll be leaning towards the Windows again.
The keyboard that I use now is none other that Apple wireless keyboard and I must say I really love it, despite the fact my brother says it's complete trash etc.
Now why? Because for 7 and 8 groups I use F2 and F3 keys respectively. Those keys are so close to numeric keys that it's very very practical since I'm used to it.
Now the reason why I ask for your help is because I don't know any similar keyboards to this one and using Apple keyboard under Windows will work, but obviously cause troubles.
Here is the image of how it exactly look like.

The apple keyboard works virtually perfect without problems. You can even switch the control key around if you want.

Here's what I use. (Logitech K300) Its a great cheaper and quieter alternative if you're not in a position to get a mechanical keyboard.

I can corroborate this, for the most part it works perfectly. I used an apple keyboard with a windows/linux machine for several years before replacing it with a mechanical. The only problem i had with the apple keybaord is that the high F keys (F13+) on the fullsize ones dont do anything unless you do special configurations (i dont think the tenkeyless ones have those though, so it isn't a problem).
