I'm looking to buy a new computer, since my old one is old, doesn't run SC2 very well, and basically destroyed by a virus (I.E. the cost of fixing the problems with it would probably be like $200-300 and since its pretty dated I might as well just invest in a new, good computer) ...

I was wondering whether ibuypower, cyberpower, or digital storm would be better? Cyberpower seems to be a bit cheaper, and Digitalstorm seems to be more expensive.

I got a digitalstorm computer before and I liked it, but they're fucking enormous. My price range is probably $1,000 - $1,500 .

Ideally looking for a computer with a GTX 470 or GTX 460 graphics card, and an i7 processor.

Any thoughts?

These are the ones I'm looking at:

http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Gamer_Xtreme_XT/

Gimme some suggestions! Thanks~

My suggestion would be to build your own :p
It isn't really that hard nowaday.

Also Sandy Bridge > the old Nehalem i7 and the GTX 470 is outdated. ( The 560 Ti just got released ).

Any thoughts on building your own? Your budget is for the tower only, right? You don't need keyboard, mouse, monitor or any of that.

That first one you linked to looks pretty good. You might end up wanting to expand the 6GM of memory, but it looks like it has 6 slots (at least form the other options it seems), so that would remain a viable option if you want to do that in the future.

Not gonna build my own because I'm much too stupid for that + lazy, rather spend an extra few hundred $$ for a warranty and having the work done for me :p

I would never buy a computer from ibuypower, cyberpower, Alienware, or others. Your best and cheapest bet is always to buy the components yourself and put it together yourself, like previously mentioned. If you don't want to do that at the very least I would go to a local shop rather than buying from these online dealers.

Intel I5-2500k Sandybridge CPU is the best bang for the buck right now and it can EASILY be overclocked to 4.5ghz.. seen it up to 5ghz stable. My personal preference would also be to go with a Sapphire 6870 over a GTX 470.

Just my thoughts, enjoy the new computer.

Yea for your GPU you should pick something between a 460, 6870, 560 or a 6950.
For performance ( and price ) it is:
460 ~ 6870 < 560 < 6950
Those cards will run Sc2 in Ultra HD without any problems.

The 2500k is also a good pick for your budget. I don't think that AMD has competitive CPU atm for a 1500$ gaming computer and the old i7 Nehalem are slower too ( mostly because their lower stock frequency ).

If you are going to go with a prebuilt, I would go with Cyberpower. For the price you almost cannot beat it. I bought a Cyberpower a few months back and I am very happy with it. I am a network technician and computer tech, so I could have built my own, but after pricing the parts, I paid almost the same with none of the hassle. I know people love building their own, but when you price the parts, a lot of times you are not saving that much money, just getting it exactly how you want it. I almost always prefer to buy a prebuilt system with the basics of what you want and then upgrade whatever you are not happy with.

Like I said, I bought a big hefty thing from cyberpower, great coolmaster case, great motherboard, good processor, and decent video card. I just added a few small things when I got it, updated the drivers, updated the BIOS, and it has worked like gangbusters.

Alienware are far too expensive for what you get. I do not really know anything about ibuypower, so I cannot form an opinion on that.

Generally the higher spec system you want, the more cost efficient it is to build your own. Buy a local nerd a 6 pack and save some cash?

I would recommend you not buy either of the ones you linked since there is a new microarchectecture on the market now which is much more cost efficient. Look for numbers like 2500/2600 in the processor section. Regarding graphics card choice just post what resolution you would like to play at.

If you do go the pre-built route you are probably better off buying from a big name company like Dell, since companies like the ones you posted will probably skimp on motherboards and power supplies and use no-name crap to keep their costs down. Plus the warranty service will be better
