I am also asking about what noticeable and tangible improvements would the most expensive "gaming" mice will bring in the context of my usage (web surfing, some bw, some image editing) -- in particular, I would like to hear anecdotal evidence (ie, I noticed a big difference when using these mice for the aforementioned tasks) rather than spewing out relatively meaningless numbers and figures. So I recently bought a deathadder, and my old wireless mouse(which was pretty okay) was a Logitech Marathon Mouse. Of course the feel of the mouse was different. The deathadder was larger, more light, and there is less of a click when you click, but b/c of that it also lets you click faster than you would on a regular mouse. In terms of the tracking, I often play osu! which is essentially elite beat agents, but with your own songs, and on PC, before my mouse really struggled with this game, but with the deathadder, and the increased CPI/DPI, the game was noticeably easier, and more enjoyable to play. In terms of Starcraft 2,I played on a low DPI to begin with b/c of my previous mouse, so while it made a slight difference in the tracking and performance, I didn't feel any huge difference there.

Since I may be returning this one, I have a question about he Zowie Mico. How is the tracking at 1600 dpi? I can't go down to 800 (I've played on 1800 for years). Looks like a really similar shape to my old Xai but I've heard a lot of stuff about it not being able to track at 1600. Have they fixed this? 1/11 = 0.03125 (ok) 2/11 = 0.0625 (ok) 3/11 = 0.25 (ok) 4/11 = 0.5 (ok) 5/11 = 0.75 (every 4th count ignored = inconsistent) 6/11 = 1.0 (optimal setting) 7/11 = 1.5 (every 2nd count gives 2 pixel movement = inconsistent + pixel skipping) 8/11 = 2.0 (pixel skipping) 9/11 = 2.5 (inconsistent + pixel skipping) 10/11 = 3.0 (pixel skipping) 11/11 = 3.5 (inconsistent + pixel skipping) This worried me in the OP. I play on 7/11 and did not know it caused pixel skipping. If I were to turn it down to 6/11 and wanted the same Sensitivity, how much should I turn up my mouse DPI (about) to make up for it?

It is right where my finger grips the side of the mouse and I'm always pressing it by accident (I disabled it, but the actual pressing really bugs me and messes with me in game). On my xai the button didn't stick out so much so it didn't get in the way.. I wonder if there is a way to remove it / custom order it from SS without the right side button(s). Dont worry about pixel skipping when you have a mouse using a bad sensor with acceleration anways. I dont know of a single mouse without some kind of crippling flaw (unless you want to use a deathadder @1800dpi, where its inconsistencies are not really noticable) and skipping pixels here and there is not a big deal compared to other problems.

I got the same mouse and just could not use it at all. It felt cheap and every so often the pointer would "jump" a few pixels on my screen, sometimes it would get stuck as well. I tried switching the pad from a QCK to a exactmat from Razer but the problem remained. I tried other mice like the ikari laser, the mionix naos 5k, the G500, G700, deathadder and the diablo 3 sensei and only the naos showed the same flaw. Out of all those the one I currently use is the diablo 3 mouse, it feels great for any type of grip, some games like ME3 I palm it, then on others like LoL I claw it and on SC2 I use fingertip or claw and it jsut adjusts great to them all. I disabled the extra buttons on the right as well but I don't find myself clicking them often. On May 18 2012 23:20 G1itch wrote: What would you guy recommend for me? I have larger hands, and I think I'm in between a fingertip and a palm grip. I seriously am not sure as I an just getting into pc gaming (something tells me palm). Any mouse pads for me too. I think cloth might be best for more control (maybe there's an in-between?) ... but again idk. Thanks guys. If you mainly palm the mouse then the ikari would be ideal, or the G500 but if you switch grips you need a more "uniform" body that is not necesarily ergonomic. In the end is just a matter of feel so it's a trial and error thing. I am waiting for the Sensei Raw Rubberized since the only bad thing about the diablo 3 is that my hands do get sweaty after a while gaming, also the multiple profiles and the ability to auto switch to them based on the game is just marvelous, I know the sensei is quite expensive now so to those needing something now get the diablo 3 which is basically the same thing or wait for the sensei raw. The pad generally boils down to cloth for optical and hardmat for laser but a good cloth pad works on both like the QCK, I use an exactmat now but Razer doesn't make them anymore I think, however I've read great things about the steelseries HD series like the 9HD so if you're planning on testing some mice get that pad as it works for all types but the qck is a great choice as well, I have one (Kerrigan vs Zeratul) but is not too friendly with my diablo 3 sensei, mainly because it gets dirty a lot easier and I forget to clean it everyday (not the pad's fault, I live in a dusty area). Your best bet is to go to a gaming store near you if you can and try the grips on the mice by yourself to see what feels comfortable.

I've tried the Razer Spectre and it's pretty decent for my purposes, but I prefer the shape of the salmosa.

I think i fingertip a but, but i really believe I palm 2. What's your sensitivity? New pc gaming... But not new to competitive gaming... 3. What's your maximum budget? Would like to keep it under $70, but it's flexible. 4. Do you want additional buttons? If computer game pro's don't use them, then no. If useful I guess. 5. What games do you play? SC2 and CS 6. Do you mind about prediction? Im not exactly sure what this is, but prediction sounds bad. Whatevers best. 7. Other relevant information: Is there any good mouse that is great (not mediocre) for both CS and SC2?

Two mice that have been in the game for years and years with a great reputation among FPS and RTS players alike. Both are under your budget and have extra buttons, which can be useful in RTS (you can set a hotkey to those extra buttons to make it easier to reach; 9 and 0, for example). If you don't need the extra buttons, the Microsoft WMO and IME 3.0 are great, reliable, and pretty cheap mice for a palm grip user. These two mice are also staples of the FPS community and come at a cheaper price than the DA or G400. Can't go wrong with any of the above mice. Have fun!
