I get pain in my wrist, elbow, fingers, knuckles, and shoulder. Worse, I get a bit of weakness too. I want a mouse that is easy on my hand. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

(The razer ergonomic guide link didn't work for me)

1. What's your grip style?
claw

2. What's your sensitivity?
usually - low (800dpi)
sometimes - medium (1200-1600dpi)
sometimes - extremely low (400dpi)

3. What's your maximum budget?
$120 CDN, but I prefer to stay under $80 CDN

4. Do you want additional buttons?
One or two buttons I can get with my thumb are nice to have. I'm open minded but skeptical of more.

5. What games do you play?
SC2
QuakeLive
Killing Floor
indy

6. Do you mind angle snapping?
what now?

7. Other relevant information:

I think I have an RSI developing. All I want is a mouse that will hurt my hand the least after hundreds or thousands of hours of programming and gaming. That is 99.99999% of my focus. Even if it isn't great for gaming, I have my g9x for that if I need it.

I'm currently using a logitech g9x. It is a great mouse, I love it However, if there is a more ergonomic mouse that can reduce hand/wrist strain I'm sure listening.

Potentially, it might be nice if it was portable enough to bring with me when taking my laptop out for programming. A very secondary consideration.

I had figured that a very low, very flat mouse might be the way to go paired with a palm grip.

If you're getting pain in the shoulder all the way to the hand I think you should rather look at your posture and your seat than purely at your mouse. I don't think an inadequate mouse can cause RSI, but rather bad posture and excessive tension in your wrist.

Can you recommend me some non-clicky mouse? I used to have Razer Krait for years and really liked it, but it's no longer in sell.
Or just general alternatives to Krait, anyone?

Man I loved my Krait but it was my shortest lasting mouse - less than 2Ys.
Hard to trust Razer after that even though I did buy a Death Adder.

Anyway, the Abyssus is basically a Krait successor in the Razer line-up. Not sure if I can recommend it though (unless you can get a good deal on it, which is why I have a Death Adder) since I no longer trust Razer quality.

Well, Abyssus is cheaper than DeathAdder, but DA have those additional up/down buttons on the left side which can be good alternative for changing subgroup selections instead of TAB. Are you satisfied about your DeathAdder comparing it to Krait?

Personally I've been with my Krait for almost 4 years (or more) as I remember and it was my best mouse so far until its left button got cranky.

Still looking for another alternatives from other producers since I've heard various opinions about Razer's quality.

Also important note: my type of mouse grip is palm grip.

Yes the side buttons are useful. I don't have them mapped to tab but I use them in SC2.

Hah, it was my left button that failed on my Krait too. I'm surprised to hear that your Krait lasted 4 years!

Death Adder is a palm grip mouse. I do use the palm grip when operating and gaming with it but it's not my preferred grip which is why I'm going back to a smaller mouse. It sounds like Death Adder would probably work for you. It's accurate enough and it has the features you want.

Just got my G303. So far I'm really liking it! Much different from an LMO that I had cranked up to 10/11 in windows settings I will admit when I first gripped it, I couldn't get used to the feeling of the contour on the right side, being right-handed. Naturally as I used it more, my hand adjusted and kind of 'choked up' from a 'lazy' fingertip grip to something closer to a claw grip. It's really comfortable, actually! Smooth, accurate and precise. Is a tad heavier than my LMO, but feels solid and all the buttons feel really good. I'm currently using it at 1400 dpi (1920x1080, with windows set back to 6/11, thank god) which I may adjust a bit, but first I'll have to try it with sc2 and cs:go to see where the slider finally lands, then I can report back

Oh and the braided cable is quite nice.

I discovered Steelseries Rival mouse and it seems like a perfect match for me, its length seems to be perfect for me (I have larger hands). I'm also right-handed.
Anyone here ever had or have this mouse? If so, can you recommend it?

It's fine, if you like the shape go for it. The only possible downside might be that the Steelseries drivers used to be utter shit, but maybe they fixed it since then. You'll be able to setup your mouse and close them afterwards anyway and they won't be an issue.

Alright my G303 just came. Not gonna lie, this shape is going to take some time to get used to.

I just don't understand why they chose such an unconventional design.

The feel of the click is outstanding. The sensor feels pretty good.
In terms of ergonomics though, this thing needs more rubber and less plastic in the thumb and ring finger area.

Trust me, when I first got my hands on it, I wholeheartedly agreed with you.
But it only took an hour or so before I got completely used to it. Now I actually quite like it. I somewhat feel like it lends itself to extra precision.
I've become comfortable with it in both my natural fingertip and adjusted claw grip. I think the mouse naturally lends itself to claw-grip, but I also quite like the feeling of fingertip gripping just past the widest part between my thumb and pinky. It is possible it could use some rubber siding, though I haven't had experience with a mouse with that.

Most of all with this mouse, I love the weight and dimensions. It feels like the LMO brought to its modern logical conclusion, unless someone can point me to something closer.

My only complaint is that the scroll wheel, only going 'downward' for some reason, does not have the same tactile click as 'upward' motion.

The triangular shape is indeed a bit weird, but I really love it now that i'm a bit used to it. I feel like it allows you to adjust your grip really well, and allows for both claw and fingertip, and even palm for people with small hands like me!

hmm... I have a tiny hand too and palm grip still feels unnatural with this mouse which is fine because that's not my preferred grip anyway.

In any case, I'm trying to get used to fingertip gripping this mouse.
When you guy use the fingertip grip with the G303, where do your thumb and ringer rest exactly?

I am somewhat in-between a palm/fingertip grip, but my contact points are my thumb and pinky finger. It might take a while to get used to what you eventually use thought and it could be slightly different.

My initial impressions of the mouse from yesterday is that it feels nearly identical to the 302. The side buttons are more contoured and less portruding than the 302, and the switches are maybe different I would surmise based on how they activate and feel, but they still feel good.

Ahhh OK. That's basically the grip that I'm going for. I guess I just need to practice a little more with it.

One favor, could you zoom in a little bit on the top mouse skate?
Mine has the lining a little bit broken near the bottom edge. I wasn't sure if it's just my mouse or if it's by design. Because the two side feet have breaks in their outer edge and that seems intentional. Thanks!

that is intentional in case you want to replace the foot, or need access to the internals (one of the screws is directly underneath).

OK cool.

It's not there on the bottom skate though.

it's actually on all of the feet except for the brackets around the sensor opening, which I forgot to mention is slightly smaller than the 302.
