Is it worth paying ~$20 extra for it (and not being able to get it in orange!)? The only difference is it lets you pinpoint the location of a sound in 3d space more accurately. If you don't play FPS its not worth it at all, In my opinion its not worth it anyway, but Im a pretty casual FPS player and the orange ones look so damn sexy

Didn't wanna make a new thread so I'm just going to add to this one. I would like to buy a new pair of headphones, the problem is that I need a microphone as well. Now, I do remember seeing a pair of earphones that also had a mic that was built into the cord... Now I know that people are going to tell me that a headset is way better than headphones but I really don't care. This is a personal preference and I'm not changing my mind. Does anybody have any suggestions for me? I was looking on newegg and found some decent looking Razer ones but they didn't have a mic... Razer headphones (No mic)

Generally the best values in the headphones market--in terms of sound quality, durability, comfort, etc.--aren't in products by gamer peripheral brands. What price range are you looking at? Earbuds, canalphones, on-ear headphones, or over-ear headphones? Any type of sound you prefer, or requirements on how it fits or anything else to consider?

If you're fine with such a combination, it will increase the number of options you have. But even if you want a non-headset with an inline mic, there are some options left of course. Colby's CVE31, I like em but I need a mic. I really don't like to combine stuff, currently I'm using a headset for the mic and then my earphones for my sound and I hate it. Any suggestions? Price... Well if I think it is worth it I'll spend more but I'm not looking to spend too much, most likely under $50.

Is a clip-on mic really such a hassle if you already have a headphone cable? You could sleeve both cables together if you need to, but that's probably overkill.

I don't normally use headphones for the computer, prefer to use speakers. With a one-ear solution i could route skype/vent/mumble through that and have game sounds through speakers, would be optimal :>

I've never heard of somebody wanting to wear a standalone Bluetooth microphone (of course I see why that would be desired), so I'm unfamiliar with such products. Bluetooth headsets are much more common I think. I think you could just wear such a headset and not use the audio out from it. Select the audio output device to be the speakers and the audio input to be the microphone on the Bluetooth headset.

G35 and Corsair HS1 are my personal favs for headsets a good mix between price, performance and comfort, esp for laptops that have bad sound quality a good usb headset is great. If people are looking for the G35 drivers that aren't a year old ftp://ftp.logitech.com/pub/techsupport/audio/beta/ nvm they just realized the non beta while ago.

Thanks, that gives me everything I need pretty much. Now to make a decision...

Thanks to a couple of recommendations in this thread i did some research into the Sony MDR V6's. Both Amazon and Newegg had stellar reviews for these headphones. Newegg actually had 100% 5 egg reviews which i found to be quite impressive. Best part is they are only $70, which is about $50 cheaper than the Sennheiser PC350's I almost bought after reading this thread. I can use the mic off my old plantronics which still works great. Thanks to everyone for their input (as mixed as all the opinions were). I feel pretty confident in this purchase now. Now my search continues for the perfect keyboard replacement to a 15 year old board that's dying a slow death... so hard to decide on mechanical switches when you don't have the option of trying them out beforehand (without paying of course).
