Yes 90% sure that is a power supply issue if it turns off without notice. Also check into replacing your wall outlet for a more quality one if it isn't already. You might need a larger power supply for that card, I wouln't recommend going below 500 Watts.

I also get exceedingly shitty performance on this with an HD5850. My framerate drops from about 150 to 40 as soon as I put shaders onto medium, which I know isn't right. My card handles every other game maxed out with no problem, so I figure its something to do with SC2, I'm just holding out til I get a key and can go whine on their forums because as far as I'm aware I've tried everything else.

CPU type: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8400 @ 2.26GHz System memory (GB): 3GB Graphics card model: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 Desktop resolution: 1440x900 This is Toshiba A300-1GN model and I can play sc2 on medium details without any problems (40+fps even in big fights). I also tried connectint 24" monitor with 1920*1080 resolution. I had low details and it was 40+ fps even with 150 units on screen. So if you're buying laptop everything stronger that ati 3650 should be really ok, and not expensive.

intel core 2 quad q6700 @ 3000MHz 4GB ram ATI Radeon HD 4770 win7 64bit setting: ultra, 1920-1080 results: Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg 58, 1477, 39, 41, 39.269 second test: overclocking my cpu to 3330MHz and my videocard: GPU clock to 830, Memory clock 950MHz improvment ~4fps i guess this shows that you can play with older system at max setting without any problems and when u have trouble, there is still 10-20% extra power from overclocking (i just read the op, no more!)

I use ATI overdrive to overclock the core and memory clock to max. The fps seems higher now about 30 for mass army fighting and 60+ at base. But I expect higher frame rate for this card though...

About the 5850, that is something I can't do anything about other saying download latest drivers, and it looks like you already have them! Only way is to ask Blizzard at their tech support forum. For the guy with the 1.86ghz core 2 duo, if you get the same performance after upgrading your graphics card to the 9800gt, and adding extra RAM, that means you have a bottleneck somewhere! Try running other games and seeing if you get the same results after running the two graphics cards. The guy with the Q6600 should be able to run the game on medium fairly smoothly without any overclock on the cpu.

GPUs I've been looking at: ATI 5830 - $250 GTX 260 C216 - $225 ATI 5850 - $320 I feel the 5850 is a little out of my price range, but maybe its worth it. Computer Specs: i7 920 23" 1920x1080 4GB So I'm just asking what you guys think I should go with (doesn't have to be on the list). FYI I'm going to be playing a wide array of games on this machine so I don't want what can just barely play SC2 on ultra. Also I'll probably throw in another card a little bit down the road if I need too. Thanks =) Edit: Posted my screen as being 23' (feet) haha.. Spinal Tap anyone?
