If we look back to PvProleague times, after Jjackji forfeited his code S slot. There were 3 Terrans in in the round of 32 of GSL. 1 Terran in round of 16. Maru had his great winrate both in GSL and in Proleague partially off of great TvP. That point in Korean StarCraft cemented Maru's moniker "The Last Terran". He was repeatedly the only terran left in ro8 and sometimes in the ro16.
Maru and his maru-ders were protoss killers. Were everybody else made vikings to counter colossus, Maru used micro and marauder+medivac. Maru did better than most everyone for a long time. There were a lot of words and phrases invented to describe Maru's TvP. Maru-ders is just one of those.
Maru has been playing since GSL1 back in 2010. "Always" is a long time for Maru. From that first GSL there are only 3(4) players still relevant: Maru, ByuN, TLO (and Artosis). This is Maru's 12th year as a SC2 pro. If you only take games between now and 2016 into consideration you'll miss more than half of his career.
Are you sure you meant "always" when talking about the bane of protoss, the Last Terran?
