It doesn't even matter much, every player has to be beaten to win. Based on group stage Serral would be very favoured vs Maru anyway. Reynor also looked good vs HeroMarine. Honestly Maru is one of the weaker Ro8 players and has not done anything noteworthy for quite a while. He gets overhyped whenever he wins a game these days. He beat Ragnarok though, gosu On this patch you have to be a god to beat Ragnarok as Terran though

I don't hear any falsehoods spoken here.

Sad for Big Gabe. His day literally went the same flavour as TIME's: awesome upset start followed by a 0-3 by the same Korean. Are we seeing a trend here? Are these bright foreigners falling under nerves, pressure or fatigue at the end of the day?
Hoping Maru, Classic, Trap or Neeb makes it to the finals. Preferably Maru. Crikey not another ZvZ please.

It's the single most impressive streak in Starcraft we've ever seen, but that doesn't mean he's forever favoured to win every tournament he enters. However, having had one of those extremely successful streaks will always bias people to believe he could have that magical form back, turn it to 11 and beat everyone, because we've seen him do it countless times before, even when he was recently outplayed by Trap & Dark. Recent form is extremely important. Mvp also won an incredible 4 GSL's, but I wouldn't expect him to make it out of a Ro32 group now if he was dropped in one.
That said, I don't think Maru's one of the weaker Ro8 players. Serral/Dark are scary, but I'd rate him than the other 3 currently in there.

Maru is obviously the best player at BlizzCon, but the meta/balance isn’t exactly kind to him right now . If he wins that would be such an epic upset though.

Maru has been the second best player in the world since the start of Starcraft but he couldn't always show it because he lost.
The best player in the world is and obviously has always been Scarlett.

Was actually hoping for the exact opposite of this result. Heartbreaking for herO.

Are you sure you are feeling ok, guys? Maru "obviously" being the best player at BlizzCon, second best player since forever(Scarlett the best, ehm...). You should not write on TL everything you dream, you know?

Narratives are all we have left of it. These (end) days of SC2.
Soo show how ZvZ is played and two top Korean Zergs cannot contain Maru, and Reynor or Trap just take it all.
*sniff* Bad narratives!
As Certified Serral-fanboi my optimal narrative would be PvP Blizzcon Finals, both Maru and Serral being kicked out at Ro4.
Why? it just feels the best avenue for everything and for the continuity of the game, during this sad, lonely post-dropout TIME. I'm sure there would be much more better foreigner parity next year, and these humble hopes would get higher if Korean Protoss just sweep some zergs out there...
Worst possible scenario for the narrative would be that Trap goes to Final and beat Maru, or conversely Reynor suffocate Classic. For everyone, also for rather idle balance-team, it would be optimal if Protoss just sweep it all.
Peace, tranquillity, understanding, Zen, and all compassing interracial friendship would descent onto a map among us all therewith.
The reality will be dramatically different from that, *tho. Urgh.
Added: * 'tho'
