To offer some solace in this time of grief: We've learned that Geoff passed quickly and painlessly from a blood clot in his lungs. He was with friends. He always urged and led us by example to take care of ourselves to the best of our ability. Remember to do that for him today.
I still cannot belive this Geoff was the reason I've been watching many tournaments and streams, his exceptional charisma & his game knowledge made him a perfect showman.
I can't even explain how much I'm gonna miss him RIP Incontrol...you will never be forgotten and will always be loved.
Hes a legend, one of the biggest losses to not just the SC2 scene, but to the esports scene. one of the true people to bring colour and jokes to any cast.
Horrible news. RIP to one of the pillars of the community, a man that brought laughter to many people and was a super nice guy to meet at sc2 events. We will never forget you Geoff.
I must admit that for a long time I didn't like iNcontroL or his casting. I thought he was just too abrasive and weird. But one night after listening to him after taking some special substances suddenly it clicked for me and I started getting his humor and he had me laughing a lot. I grew to love hearing him and Rotti casting together. I still can't believe this is real but RIP Geoff and all my sympathies to his friends and family.
I met incontrol at blizzcon 2009 and introduced myself as kau. His eyes lit up as he thought I was vgl-cow. Sadly I had to inform him that I was just pony xpress kau.
He casted some OSL with machine at that blizzcon. It was a good time.
It took me 6 hours to accept or grasp what happened. That he's really gone. At first I thought this was meant as a joke, like a play with the double meaning of words or sth like that. Then I read his Twitter and still couldn't believe it. Now I've been checking TL & Twitter every ~20 minutes for the past 4 hours for an update on his situation but theres none. He's just gone.
Just two days ago he seemed to be doing well, even announcing his shedule for the coming months...
Losing Geoff is a tremendous loss for SC2/Esports and the whole community.
Wow I still can't believe this. I read about this on the Dota 2 subreddit earlier tonight and was so confused. I thought he said or did something controversial and it was referencing his career dying and I was confused as to why it was on /r/dota2. Once I checked here and /r/starcraft I was in disbelief. Completely shocked.
My best friend and I had ran a Starcraft 2 podcast at the beginning of Wings of Liberty for about a year and a half and Geoff was the first (and only) big name guest that agreed to come onto our show. I remember it was a Saturday night during the holidays and he was super cool about it and it was an awesome moment for us and our podcast.
My friend and I "came" from Warcraft 3 and at the time Grubby was still on EG and not publicly playing SC2 yet. So naturally we asked him if he was going to switch and what race he was playing and Geoff confirmed that he was and was playing Protoss. Days later I started seeing people talking about it on these forums here and were linking our show as the source for Grubby switching to SC2 soon and his race. It was really cool and we were both super thankful for Geoff's time and sharing some insight with us that we could then share with everyone else.
Anyways that's my Geoff story. I don't actively keep up with Starcraft like I used to but every now and then I will stumble across his stream or Twitter feed and it always made me feel happy and wholesome that he was still heavily involved with Starcraft while many others of that era moved on.
Rest in peace Mr. Robinson. I know you are now in a peaceful place in the starcraft (or warhammer) heavens. o7 O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done...

It just feels surreal, just completely out of the blue.
I remember the 2012 Asus rog casts with him and 2gd. It was my first lan event i visited and seeing all that live was the greatest. Rest in peace and thanks for the years.
I thought this was some kind of bad joke when I first read it. Still wished it was. Even though I haven't watched stuff he did recently, he was still one of my absolute favourite people in the sc community. Such a terrible loss for the game, the community and esports.
Unexpected deaths like this are unbelievably tough as it literally just doesn't make sense for some time. With TB it was unbelievably sad but this one feels like a gut punch.
Having recently gone through the same personally I know it's going to take some time for this one to feel real too.
It takes a special kind of person to be so well respected, even people who didn't originally like his casting style eventually warmed to him as he seemed like he was a top, top bloke off mic and just enjoyed making people laugh.

That tournament was legendary, largely thanks to the casting which was beyond silly. Geoff and 2gd with the A grade banter.
