Maru just seems too good at preparation matches, Classic was convincing but didn't appear especially scary; Maru's TvP is his Achilles' heel during the weekenders but he just never loses at the matchup in Code S.
Classic winning another championship before retiring would be a nice story tho and would save me(us?) from being drowned in hagiographies of Maru, the GOAT who almost cannot win weekenders and has more years of career than Premier titles(I don't hate him at all, his style is amazing when he doesn't Proxy 24/7, it's just that people overrate him into veneration).

Maru, because he's won the last 3 :p
More seriously:
Classic hasn't really played too much PvT recently and the ones he has played aren't indicative of much considering they've mostly been wins against returning players (Fantasy and Bomber). In general Classic is good in PvT and tends to prepare well with a lot of weird builds like sOs. Meanwhile, Maru's played a lot of TvP recently and has many games to study.
That said, I'd still be surprised if Maru doesn't win and with anything less than a 4-2. Even last year, when Classic was in top-form and was regarded as the best PvT where he had already beat Maru multiple times and was the favorite going into their ro4 match, Maru still destroyed him. It just seems like Maru becomes a demon from the ro8 onward in the GSL now.

Crazy Why do some people always (advertently) forget that Inno also won 4 GSLs (if counts GSL vs The World)? Its schrodinger's GSL. When they need to argue for Mvp being bonjwa then its a GSL. When its Inno its not. GSL were really clear about this at the time: GSL WC had a qualification system, so counts as a GSL. GSL vs the World is an invit and so it's a special event which counts as a premier event but doesn't count as a GSL. Whatever it takes for Mvp fanboys to sleep at night while knowing there's a new GOAT on the block.

Crazy Why do some people always (advertently) forget that Inno also won 4 GSLs (if counts GSL vs The World)? Because nobody cares about him whereas Mvp is a big ass pimp Even if Maru wins this GSL, I would still say Innovation is the GOAT of SC2. With the WESG win this year, Innovation just added another major tournament win to his trophy case. Without the WESG win, I would consider that if Maru wins this GSL, he is very close to Innovation or maybe Maru even surpasses Innovation. But after the WESG win, Innovation is still the GOAT. Maru is still young and Innovation is getting old. So if Maru keeps it up, he may surpass Innovation eventually. Having said that, Serral is also very young so Serral has many more tournaments to win in the future and perhaps it will be Serral and Maru trying to take over as GOAT from Innovation. Not sure how the wesg win makes all the difference. Maru has been good too during the hots era so I already think maru is close or surpassed inno.

maru is GOAT, with MVP as second. keep in mind MVP played with completely shattered/broken wrists, as a huge underdog, and STILL won, and almost beat life as well
inno not in disucssion because -100 pts for being faceless korean

After the games, Maru made the surprising admission that he had been taking things relatively easy compared to 2018
I think one could notice that.

I love that Maru is this good now. I remember back in 2011 when Artosis was commenting that this young kid is gonna go far.

so in short, maru fails and loses in every tournamend expect GSL where he sweeps anyone else and wins it easy ... this boy is beyond my logic xD well done maru well done
while other complain, maru is just maru and instead wins high and easy
