The real stories for me are:

China having a really good showing. As someone who hasn't really been following the Chinese scene, it's cool to see they're at least competitive with the NA scene. Not to mention they were probably playing with lag.

Awesome to see PSiArc qualify even if he didn't have the best showing. Really great to see such an underrepresented region.

Lots of NA ladder heroes doing well, which is cool to see. Players like MCanning, Silky, Epic, ect.

Protoss surpasses Zerg as the most qualifying race for WCS (14 P 10 Z 8 T). Overall relatively even racial distribution, but given how Zerg dominated it's been in the past, it's cool to see it's being mixed up a bit.

Wtf is this, crazy upsets. Rail taking Bly down, Hateme taking both Zanster and Sortof. Nerchio and Toodming placing last in their group? Coffe and Silky over TLO? Firefly knocking Has out?

Rail is a good 2 bases player.
ZvZ is inconsistent.
Nerchio and TooDMing are too old.
Coffee is not weak.
Chinese players know about Has' strategy.
Do not be so surprised.

Nerchio is only 26 with healty wrist tho he's not that old, but he does look like the shadow of his 2016-17 self

Well, not many players kept form consistent for long time. This might be temporary slump. He might be beast in other half of year, who knows. Same as we expected of Clem to be monster and he failed to deliver expected results.

Hmmm, still no Ro16 group announcement... I find that a bit odd. Let's at least hope they share the groups before the day is over.

Anyway - great tournament so far, and solid viewership!

Seems kinda dumb and unfair for Group A that the draws haven't happened yet.. They're not going to have much time to prepare.

EDIT: Actually, Group A showing on Liquipedia now? But none of the others.

Europe's groups are set on Liquipedia but not America's yet...

Serral only has to prepare for Protoss.

Those groups seem very uneven. Seems like there was zero seeding except #1/#2 in Ro32 group.

I'm surprised to see future go 0-4 after seeing him take out special and puck to win cheesedelphia recently.

Why does Serral have the easiest group ever? By far the best player in by far the easiest group?

You kidding me?

I hate how the groups turned out. In EU, both (all of the) terrans are in the same group. Two other groups are Zv3Ps. Also in NA you have Tv3Zs and Tv3Ps. Boring for the viewers and also unfair as one guy only need to prepare a single matchup.

It's strange EU group seems super seeded : the 3 semi finalist from Montreal get a group and Showtime who was equal with Uthermal in quarter get the last one, than the other 4 second place ends up pretty much in last years standing (Gungfu-Mana for the finalist and Uthermal-Elazer for the other 2. Probably just bracket luck but it make it so group A and D are way easier than B and C at least on paper. But I would be kind of shock that there was no seeding at all because Serral just got the easiest group 2 time in a row.
Conspiracy time

And then NA is just crazy imbalance lol

I mean putting Serral in the weakest group definitely improves the lives of other top tier players since they can now afford one upset in their own group.
