I totally agree with this. As cute as the idea of fan vote is, SC2 is still a competitive esport. Let players compete for their placements.

If this is World vs Korea why cant best players play? This vote obviously disrupts the scheme. Yes, you will get old popular players but the competition is not there anymore. Sorry Blizzard this is a total fuck up (especially one spot reserved for China). Don't lie to us how you have it set up, you know in advance who will win votes. Friends of the white rabbit get spots and wcs points, really? This is fair and reasonable?

I don't particularly mind it being fan-selected, but there's something terribly wrong with Gumiho not being there to begin with...

The prize pool is quite large, too. At the very least, they are filtering out lesser players by selecting candidates based on points, so Gumiho will most certainly be among those.

People are making too much of a big deal about Gumiho not being there. There will always be that one player who was #5 with a Top 4 cutoff. And this time Gumiho drew the short straw.

Yes, the event is called "GSL vs the World" and Gumiho won the most recent GSL, but I don't see people bitching about only US, Mexican, Poland, Finland, and China being invited instead of the ~190 other countries in the World. "Korea vs Foreigners" would be a better title for everyone obsessed with pedantic semantics, but does it really matter what the name is?

As much as people complain it's a popularity contest, if it was a bracket, people would complain about the seeding or the bad bracket luck.

Or they would complain about how one of the lessrr Koreans makes a bracket run and somehow makes it to the top four.

Personally, I was fine that they got the top four of both standings, which means that the relative top four of both sides get in.

I'd be worried if it was a total popularity contest.

I don't care if a popular player who sucks plays at an *exhibition* event. I don't understand the fuss about it.

If only the best should compete, we shouldn't be seeing any foreigners in Koreans vs Foreigners event, should we?

I just don't like how foreigner team will have 4 Zergs. If the Chinese player is Zerg they should have picked more protoss or terran player in the invitee spots.

I would rather not see all Koreans RO8 so I hope they break down foreigner and korean brackets apart so foreigners can reach higher rounds.

Why? Because Korean players are better so they always win vs foreigners? It is a competition. Let the better players win. It doesn't matter if they are Korean or not. Have some faith in foreigners as well.

His true form will release on 22nd, so I don't know yet, but so far it's not very optimistic for sure.
However, this vote is based on fans' choice, so I see no reason to not vote for him if you like his play style.
BTW you shouldn't be bothered by the salty guys (and you should know whose fanboys they are), let sOs in is the best response you can ever have.

For those who complain about China having a spot reserved, be noted that the only alternatives are either making Chinese players candidates in voting or excluding them entirely, and neither would end up well considering the huge fan base in China.

You still don't get the point, assuming he is bad right now, he might not go to Bilizzcon because of this, but he might go to GSL vs world because of large number of fans since bad form and fans' preference are not strongly related, and this event does not offer WCS points anyway.
You should only think about why your favorite players got less fans if they didn't get in, maybe they should change their play style to match majority of fan's preference to have a better try next time, or just go to Blizzcon to gain some cash (and that's where the big money is) if they are really better players like you said.
