Not bad, not bad.

But as long as players like Dark, TY and Zest are still teamless our mission isn't complete.

Congrats, but I really wonder when the big boys will be picked up.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

Realistically though, how many teams could afford them? ROOT (they already have herO though), dPix, TL, expert, Splyce, Psistorm, mYinsanity could be candidates for names like Dark or Inno. But are they interested? Can they reach agreements?

Who knows, right?

Really nice for him, especially after his half-revival recently!!

The reason he gets picked up and not the big hitters is probably because he is ready to settle for lower wages, probably used to less. (Now I'm not saying this to be mean or discriminate any of my heroes, I just try to come up with explanations)

Yeah true, I'm sure they got a lot of offers, but they weren't satisfied since they are used to KT/SKT money. Splyce probably pays enough, but won't be investing in more players for now.

Though tbf from what CatZ said about herO's salary at least he doesn't seem like he had unreasonable expectations.

I'm sure they will lower their expectations more and more, but for now they are still holding off, in case the biggest offer has not come in yet. I don't think they will be teamless for the rest of the year. Maybe some personal sponsorships too.

Also a thing to consider I guess is that for example TY said after winning WESG that he hadn't really thought about joining a new team. He wasn't even really on the market per se until 2 weeks ago.

Most of them probably aren't that desperate yet or else they could have probably all joined isIMBA by now

I wonder if that's because:

1) these players are retiring soon
2) these players make enough money from tournaments to justify continuing to be a pro (unlikely)
3) they're waiting on better offers
4) they're doing stuff on the side and pushing SC2 to a lower priority

Well TY for instance doesn't have to worry about money for another year at least. So there's no reason for him to accept an offer he feels is beneath him.

Others, like Innovation, are making fairly regular money from online tourneys, and can reasonably expect to get a decent payout from big tournaments like GSL/Katowice.

The thing about winning big tournaments like TY is that TY doesn't have to worry much about money, but there aren't so many of them that you can sustain a living off doing it without some other source of income.

Well I think between streaming and tournaments (online ones add up too) it should be sustainable for a decent amount of players.

It's kind of weird that teams will invest in random games that get significantly worse viewership than SC2 does though and still completely ignore StarCraft, I assume that a lot of those other games come cheap in comparison to the expectations that StarCraft players have but that certainly isn't always the case. Some of it is probably built on hoping you latch on to the next big thing, which SC2 clearly will never be? You'd think picking up the odd SC player here or there would be worth it though, it's not like you have to fund an entire team or teamhouse.

this leads me to believe that the teams must take a share in their tournament earnings, and this must be negotiated in the contract. the big guns must consider they can make more off tournament prize money that the salary offered by these teams.
Maybe they are also being motivated by Byun's recent success being teamless. pushing them to have results to survive as opposed to being in their comfort zone with a salary.

His base salary is 500$ per month plus 100$ in incentives. Plus the things that come with being on a team, you know, travel support, staying at the ROOT house if he wants to, that stuff.

Appreciate the nice comments, I'm sorry we couldn't pick up some of the monsters that are still on the market, It's very much true that the salary expectations is beyond capable for a grass roots eSports team in EU like us. I think this will change over time, however in the meantime I hope you can support the players both on a team or without. I hope you liked the jjakji intro video and watch his stream for a pimped out Team RevolutioN design!
