ESL have annouced the dates for the IEM Season 11 Grand Finals. Like in 2016, the finals will take place in Katowice, Poland. The finals will feature League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and StarCraft 2. This time around the event will span two weekends, with the League of Legend finals on the first weekend, and SC2 and CSGO on the second weekend.
The culmination of Counter-Strike:Global Offensive and StarCraft II competitions will be held the following weekend, March 3-5, in both the Spodek Arena and the adjacent International Convention Center (ICC). During the weekend of March 3-5, the ICC also will be home to the IEM Expo where visitors can experience additional activities, including Free To Play zones, Meet & Greet with well-known influencers, concerts, raffles with prizes from event sponsors, and more. Additional activities and tournaments on dedicated stages will be announced in the coming weeks.

Thank God that they separated those events with LOL, especially that EXPO happens along with CS/SC. Those who stood in longer-than-life queues with LOL fans would understand.

Well the event became just too big with like what, 7 different games last year?
Global event or Riot!!! (how fitting)

That's nice, from what I read from previous years the cs and sc crowd has way more overlap and they weren't too happy with the LoL fans blocking everything.

Can confirm that for this year. The complex was simply too small to contain everything, which is kind of amazing on one side, but also problematic of course. I think doing CS/SC2 + Expo on a different weekend is a good way to handle things.

A few months ago I was always torn when when tournaments for both games happened at the same time. :D

There is an overlap, but probably less of one than with LoL.

you'd be suprised. A lot of people that appreciate technical aspects of gaming enjoy both, since they proabably have the highest individual skill level of any esport.

2015 I watched both on dual screen, as it was a Major in CS:GO and one of the biggest korean tournaments (even tho not korean locked).
In 2016 I watched mostly CS:GO (even tho no Major anymore) while only catching a few SC II games.
Many people grew up with CS 1.6 and BW (or Wc3) at the same time and played both casual with friends and online.
