Regardless of the situation, we will still action upon "dead game" comments. As this is a sensitive issue for SC2 fans, please do not come into this thread and talk about SC2 players switching over to BW. This thread is also not about bashing Blizzard, David Kim, or the WCS system. |

Can't believe its going to end. Starcraft 2 released I got to high school and its been with me all my high school years. Watching the early GSL and MLGs when the koreans came over were a beauty. The entertainment its provided me will always be in my memories.

So here's the history. And here's my footprint.

Besides GSL ending this is the worst new possible T__T.
I need some member' berries

I know it shouldn't come as a big surprise but it's still bizarre to see. I had never thought much about how integral proleague was to all of these teams. Curious to see how things play out over the next few months.

When BW gets the HD makeover proleague is going to come roaring back and be more epic than ever before.
I can dream can't I?

Whoa, this news.
Is this announced today? since I'm in Legal Training Institute

I can dream can't I? If we are dreaming what about a new GSTL?

As mentioned before, KeSPA will strengthen its partnership with its members, game developers, and local/foreign partners to further grow eSports. We hope that StarCraft ProLeague will live on in the memories of its players, fans, and all affiliated parties as an invaluable asset that pioneered the eSports industry and contributed to establishing competitive gaming as a mainstream culture in Korea
So they're done with SC2 and moving on to MOBAs 6 years too late then? Or maybe Overwatch.
This is sad but it is no surprise. Outside of SC2 sites SC2 doesn't exist anymore. It's hard to run a league without sponsorship and it's hard to get sponsorship when you're competing against games that offer better audiences for sponsors advertisement. We can bicker until the end of time as to why StarCraft 2 did not live up to the expectations of fans and the popularity of Brood War, but at some point we will all accept that it has been a commercial success for Blizzard, and a failure for fans.

Wow... this is kind of like when MBC ended their thing..

A sad sad day. Not unexpected, but sad.

Wait, does this mean there's going to be a BW proleague? I vaguely remember that one post about the "dream" coming to an end? Or is it just SC2 PL ending with nothing to come necessarily for BW? Damn, though :/

I quit playing Blizzard games since WoL and probably won't be going back, ever. I still watched PL every week though. Was entertaining to watch and I wanted to lend my support regardless of how I personally felt about the games.
I'm personally very frightened for CJ in this case. I don't want them to pull all their support from eSports, but their LoL team just dropped out of LCK and now their SC2 team is nonexistent.
We need some good eSports news coming out of Korea soon. overwatch is fun af

The sky has fallen, and truly this is the darkest timeline. I can only hope that BW:HD is real and can revitalize the scene because I need Starcraft Proleague in my life.

damn yo
frustration with Blizz aside, I had a blast playing and watching early/mid WoL. I wasn't as active by the time that Proleague came to Sc2, but I have a lot of love for it from my BW days.
End of an era. A long time coming perhaps, but still sad.

I remember staying up late into the morning to watch Proleague, it's kinda sad that it's ending now .

There are no BW teams, I can't see a BW PL right now. I think this might be a signal for some light sponsorship activity for BW to happen, but it's not like BW is currently adored by millions around the globe.

This is the end of an era. What will happen in korean scene will be interesting. I just hope that somehow starcraft lives on in Korea even that idea seems inplausable now.

Just when I've been listening to "Is this it" from The Strokes all day non-stop.
I can't even... 💔😞😫😢
