Well shit that crept up on us. Proleague 2016 starts on Monday, and we're in a rush! It's time to sign up for Fantasy Proleague or risk missing out on another great round of FPL. Sure, there are less teams. Sure, there are less players. But that only makes FPL even more challenging! Picking the right team from the get-go is going to be more important than ever, and finding diamonds in the rough far rarer. Better make sure to read up on all the changes in our various news threads.
BUT there's also a big change for FPL this season. Unfortunately, because we weren't given enough of a heads up for this season of Proleague, Round 1 will have no trading. The currently FPL system is a little old and clunky (but still reliable!) so we're going to have to make a fix before we can go back to normal. Sadly 3 days isn't enough to fix the problem, so we'll try our best to get things back to normal if it's possible.
Here are some important facts to know going into the next round:
- Week 1 starters and maps can be found here
- Round 1 will be the standard Proleague format. See the scoring section for more info.
- You can find more info about scheduling here
- Matches will be played Mondays and Tuesdays.
- There will be 6 weeks of play.
- Joining a group is now available from the group standings page (so you can link people to your group).
- You can find the final Round 1 rosters here
How to Play
- You choose 6 players and 1 Pro Team that score you points when they play well.
- You pick 3 players for your Anti-team as well. You lose points when they play well.
- Players and teams can be traded between weeks for those valued less than them.

Team Selection
Main Team
+ Show Spoiler [Click to Show] +- Pick 6 players for your Main Team, including a captain who will be a tiebreaker
- Pick 1 Proleague team (i.e. MVP, CJ, SKT, etc.)
- You cannot trade your captain (more on trading later)
- Your 6 players and 1 Proleague team cannot exceed 30 points in cost
- Your Main Team must contain at least one of each race at all times
Anti Team
+ Show Spoiler [Click to Show] +- Pick 3 players for your Anti Team
- These players score points like Main Team players, but their score counts against you
- Your Anti Team must have a value of at least 13 points (minimum)
Basic Team Selection Strategy
+ Show Spoiler [Click to Show] +- Pick players for your Main Team who you believe will exceed their point value from before (underrated or rising players)
- Pick players for your Anti Team who you believe will do worse than they did previously (overrated or slumping players)
- Designate as Captain a player who you believe will be a lock to be good throughout the season, because you can't trade him
Groups
You will be able to create and join groups so you can compare your results with a smaller subset of the players, for example there might be a Staff Group, a First Time FPL Group, a USA Players Group, or a group created by you with just your friends.

Hard to do, I'd suppose many people that signed up could miss to fix their team in time, since it already starts tomorrow. All they possibly could do is to disable new teams from picking Life, but that'd be kinda unfair too. So I'd assume this is just another convenience/inconvenience like the no trading.

While I don't really care about mid-season updates, it would be nice to have at least one at the end, with finalized positions and whatnot... But eh, it's not a big deal. FPL is just a fun little thing to do on TL. I do think it'd be cool to have someone who is active and available that can update it though. (Teach someone the ways)

Why not make FPL on an external platform if the TL one is too old? Like if we click on FPL on TL it gives us the link and a password to access our account on the dedicated FPL platform.

I would imagine it would be interesting for TL, especially because LoL and Dota2 could use these things as well.

I would really love to see an educated analysis of this round, because I have the feeling that there were many players who under- and over-performed and that guessing the right team must have been pretty difficult.
At least Choya didn't disappoint me on my anti!

we considered it early on (like right after last season) but we needed to know what this season was going to be like before we could do it. unfortunately everything was uncertain until weeks before this season, so we couldn't do anything about it :[
we were gonna use the offseason (that december-january period with few tournaments in almost all esports) to do it but now everyone is too busy

I realize that these features are more a side thing atm, but i also think that if expanded on it it would give more reasons to join TL (anybody likes these fpls things, especially if you also could win SOMETHING)
I feel like it's wasted potential atm.
Obviously this would take a lot of work which might be too much for the potential 'return', but still. People really like these features

You have no idea how much I agree with you. While not everyone has the will, knowledge or time to do serious betting with money, almost everyone finds simple betting like LBs or FPL fun.
