I understand your feelings and concerns, but I like to think of this as the beginning of a new Era, rather than an end. It is still going to continue on Afreeca with free 1080p quality, shouldn't be too hard to get over TheDougler~
Did GOMeXP end as in they are bought or end in that the company is completely gone and all the employees are now unemployed? I really love the team at GSL and I hope they will stay even under the new management.

The love for GomTV ain't got nothing to do with quality. It's the history we have with them, with Tastosis and John the translator. It's the epic games we watched with them and because of them. It's the mad hype, the random side shows they ran and the epic, hilarious music they played in breaks.
I get that a lot of that will be present in future seasons as well, and we'll develop a history with Afreeca too. But that doesn't mean it won't be hard to not miss Gom. They introduced me to SC2, and for that I'll always be grateful.

Don't think so. Pretty sure they're just taking a step back from eSports as a whole and continuing with their other ventures.

Thats true and I understand that completely, I am hoping for some Tastosis myself.

...Still, it is not confirmed whether GomeXP`s employees transfer or not; however, the persons concerned predict AfreecaTV to hire core personnel away from GOMeXP, considering the need of skilled personnel...
tho I did not translate follow-up article, it is known that Afreeca already hired most of core personnel away fr GomeXP.

well we knew about the league already, we also knew that it was going to take place in the gom(now afreeca) studio, only thing is we weren't expecting any official english casting.
English cast if over-rated imho. Love me that Korean hype

I thought the free ultra-low quality stream meant people were buying subscriptions and it was such a great decision that it was keeping GOM afloat. I mean GOM was a business and they definitely knew what they were doing, right?
How dare people like me question such business wisdom... oh well maybe if they had tried a different business model, as I suggested, they wouldn't have folded.

No doubt, if only we could understand the words. Prolonged vowels is only fun for so long without context.
After 2+ years, I will finally start watching the GSL again.
GOM/GOM eXP is a shady piece of shit. I hate how they purposely block the Korean stream from the outside world, so that I am forced to watch the English commentators. That just made me stop watching the GSL entirely.

Well to be fair BW is far easier to understand from just watching than you'd think, so commentary is only flavor for hype moments, which Korean casters deliver really well
Sad to see! End of an era. I started with esports with the first GSL. My passion has died down in the past year or so, but it's still sad to see GomTV go! To this day, GSL was the only esports org I paid for and kept that subscription for 2 or 3 years.

Not when you are in Europe. Which means you are watching at work as a radio background. Without English commentary GSL died for me.
The only thing I'm worried about at the moment is the production quality. Will we still enjoy epic music like in GSL? Or all that will change with Afreeca TV. Beside, what will happen to the GOMEXP Youtube channel? What about all the VODs there?
