These guys are told by their coaches and sponsors their only self worth comes from winning... what do you do when you stop winning and you have nowhere to go?

Are you implying that KeSPA team players do not get to go to the school? This is how bad rumors start.

There should be no judgment of value on MarineKing as a person when we say that he was likely involved in match fixing in this case (at least I'd like to think there should be none from the more reasonable members of the community). He was likely pressured into it in some shape or form. You'll always hear people who didn't like him to begin with and like to cheer for the flavor-of-the-month winners say that it's no wonder he match-fixed because he's a trash player, scum of the earth and all that. It's probably over for him now, so I for one will try to remember when he was legit and forget his tainted end. But man, I'm still disappointed and sad :/. And even if he's innocent, it was pretty horrendous play anyway, so it wouldn't be much of a consolation.

It's likely that someone found out what build Byul was going to use against Marineking. If I found out Byul was going to use a strategy like that against marineking I'd bet everything on Byul to.

The guy literally chooses to fuck over people who bet on him, some of whom could possibly be his fans, trash the integrity of an entire gaming scene, and purposefully throw a match for his own profit, and we're not supposed to judge his character based off that, just because he might have been pressured into it? Fuck that. People that throw are literally fucking somebody else over for their own gain. That is pretty fucking despicable if you ask me. It isn't like MKP is 12 when peer pressure is such a tough thing to say no to. The guy is 20, and unless his family is being held hostage, then he should have fucking said no. I wouldn't even have to think twice about it. Instead he chose the money and fucked over every fan of his in the process, along with KeSPA, and whatever integrity Starcraft has. Also the fact that it was just him playing shitty that makes you disappointed shows that you either also have very questionable morals, didn't think about the possible consequences of MKP's actions for a very long time, or are 12. Take your pick.

I definitely can believe this was fixed. I mean, after the scandal with Olimoley it was clear that a lot of money in the korean small scene came from shady sponsors. So why not also in bigger tournaments?

Sponsors would leave, game will die in Korea, meaning no more SC2 e-sports.

If anything marineking is the most likely player to lose games in idiotic, bronze league, and heartbreaking ways. His recent losses in GSL are proof enough. The track record of terrible play exists. Maybe he threw those games to. It doesn't surprise me at all that he didn't pay attention to the red on the minimap. If he doesn't have a marine he can't do anything about a flying unit therefore there is nothing I can do about it. What else would be there at that time in the game. The pool literally just finished. I don't know what happened, but I can see how marineking can mess up that badly. He's done it before. Just never in such a humiliating way. I still think the alternative that someone found out what build Byul was going to use is a more likely explanation.

If match fixing is rampant it totally cheapens the competition. Part of the reason people even watch professional starcraft is for the storylines and to see their race or their favorite players/teams win. sc2 doesn't partially rely on the personalities of their competitors for entertainment nor comedic value like the WWE. If it's secretly on the rails in the shadows what's the point in even watching?
