However, it doesn't prevent them to advertise it when going to foreign events (unless Twitch doesn't like that too), to have the logo or even to have just something like "thanks to X for supporting us" on their website, or to give the name of their sponsor in an interview published on TL. When i recall correclty, it is forbidden to advertise in WCS and Blizzard sanctioned events for alcohol, porn or other R rated stuff.

Still doesn't change the interview/website thing though.

Isn't there a thing that if you advance thru qualification IEM will payback your tickets?
I will be the super negative guy until they will support their players for few months (living,pc, apartment thru practice)... almost anyone can pay for some cheap flight tickets... Don't forget it can stilll be bunch of ppl who won in a french lottery or something like that.
And every other Korean on their roster just making their costs higher and higher, they all need to eat, sleep, practice somewhere and that costs the real money.
Right now Invasion eSports is not an eSport team... its not even a real team.. just few good koreans together and few ppl I never heard about (except the maphacker LOL) Unless somebody from their leadership actually owns an alcoholic facility I don't understand where is all their income comming from? You don't really visit nearest company in your city and says "I wanna make a team full of expensive korean players, pls giev money" it doesn't work like that and it's incredibly hard to get some sponsorts with proper shoutouts and promotion..
@Invasion guys... proove us wrong finally it's about time, even I can pay for DRGs flight tickets myself...

I am pretty shure. No R rated content is allowed to be advertised during WCS sanctioned events. This came up during the discussion about Youporn sponsoring E-sport. It is forbidden. The game is rated for +12 in Europe and Korea and I think +13 in the USA ( or? ) and Blizzard aims for that group. Thats why R-rated content is not allowed. And R-rated content is not allowed on twitch either ( and still alot stream with "booze" calling it applejuice. ) I think that the sponsors of Invasion hestitate to show their brand on the website or a modified logo because Blizzard could still outlaw them. Better show no connections at all or you risk that Invasion cant field their players at GSL, SSL, WCS and all Weekenders who give points.

ESL pays only if you go through the qualifier. Invasions player played in the open bracked/dual tournament, where nothing is payed by the esl.

And then, if Blizzard doesn't allow to have an "alcholic sponsor", this is way more stupid for that company to be the Invasion's sponsor.
I hope the best for all the korean guys. and I also hope that (if Invasion is a correct organization) to have more information about them.

I'm glad you can pay him a plane ticket, hotels, food, etc... ESL don't pay anything for players in open bracket. So basically they are paying their salary so far, their trips to tournaments but you are saying that their sponsors doesn't exist? so how can they afford to send 3 players and 2 managers from what i heard to an event in the USA, in 2 different cities for a week? People say it is money laundry i think they need to take some economics class to learn how that works because there are easier ways to do money laundry and to use sc2 as a money laundry i don't know how it would be possible since they only have a line up in sc2. If it was some bunch of people who won the lottery i think he would have shown his face to get fame and to be recognized in the community. I mean if you win at the lottery and you start building a team you want people to know it is you who is paying for all. plus people wouldn't be skeptical toward a team which is supported by someone who won at the lottery.

Mvp still has his wrist issues and aslong he plays, aslong his wrist will stop him. He should just official retire before ruining his health forever.

Why wouldn't Blizzard want them to have an alcohol company as a sponsor?
eSports will never come close to being taken as seriously as traditional sports until alcohol sponsors are more mainstream.

That's what I don't understand. Its not like seeing an alcohol sponsor would make some random 18 year old kid want to drink, they will if they want to regardless. And I'd love to go to a bar and grab a drink of a company that sponsors a team I like if it wasn't too expensive

Different Nation, different thoughts about alcohol: While we drink here beer and whine wis 16 and wodka with 18, you have to wear brown bags arround your can of beer and have to be 21 to go to a bar.
Its just about Blizzards main target group is not 18-XX, it is 12-XX. 12 year olds tend to have alot of time and a good bunch of money due to their parents. Games like Passionstone, Heros and yes, Starcraft not only aim for the pros and adults, they go for 12 year olds to. You dont advertise alkohol to twelve year olds, parents could be mad. And in the US they can be really really mad.

Heineken sponsors the champion league, and soccer is played and seen of TV by 5 year old kids, i don't see the problem.
Also, wouldn't the "champagne ceremony" of DH, would be also "ilegal" or bad? cause it promotes champagne?
Nonsense.
And yeah, maybe it isn't money laudry, but seriously, if you are a sponsor, and you give money for a team, you usually want something in return, you aren't a charity, you are a buissness, so if they cant say "we are X and we are sponsiring this guys", what else do you get? Do you think companies like nike, coca cola, etc etc would sponsor teams if they didn't get screen time?

That's the key point with Invasion. If they sponsor can't be show, why they sponsor Invasion? It is no-sense.

Hope this team is legit. Drg deserves a solid team

Here's a question about the whole sponsorship thing that not enough people are considering:
Who cares? The players are getting paid, their travel is being paid, and they're going to tournaments. If you're not the one putting up the money, what difference does it make to you who is?
