We should make a HotS league for retired SC2 pro gamers. Hell, before long it may have more players than Sc2.

I guess playing isn't very useful if your mind tells you that you can't win + not finding joy in playing. So he does what he enjoys and that's clever enough.

I just couldn’t focus at all since it was extremely boring for me to play practice games and I got into the mentality that I couldn’t win the tournaments I attended.

Showing up to tournaments and staying positive about your own abilities over and over again is a skill in itself and it's not for everyone. Hopefully the above doesn't become a problem in Heroes. It's a bit sad to see VortiX take a break since he shows such great games but hey, anything's better than nothing.

Pretty much ever single pro in Europe has been wrecked by this guy on a regular basis at some point or another, we know how much of a monster he can be. His peak skill is high and his match-ups are well rounded - so even if he might not be confident about 1st places once in a while, he will probably return to cause serious damage whenever he feels like it. GL HF (Z)VortiX and thx for the games in 2014.

Really sad to see him go. But like Snute said, if your heart isn't in it, you gotta make the call. Vortix, thanks for all the amazing games. Some truly incredible runs and excellent wins over Koreans.

This sucks. A foreigner that was comparable to Stephano as left us. I guess this is why he has never won a WCS...he lost interest in the game. If he had kept that burning SC2 passion alive, he would have at least made top 4 of a tournament that had a bunch of good Koreans in it. Not only was Vortix a top 3 foreigner before his sudden retirement, but he was one of the best players to play SC2. We truly lost a god.

Good move. Honestly, SC2 is not a good choice as a career, because it's a lot more time consuming than other games right now.

There's a ton of other scenes where you do'nt need to practice as much to be at the top.

Damn it. I really liked having him as a consistant foreigner threat. Very few have achieved his level of play. Arguably none achieved his level of consistency on the past two years.

Elfi took a break like this. Said he couldn't find motivation to play, and he had no idea when he'd come back, if at all. It lasted one month. So don't just assume this is the end for Vortix. Hiatus and retirement mean two very different things.
