Not sure what is going on outside of the SC bubble

I'm pretty sure any number of random F2P FPS' in China or Korea or Russia has a bigger scene by numbers alone lol.

If they don't have a big tournament scene they don't really count as a bigger eSport title surely?

I think counter strike is bigger than SC2 atm

Never hoped for a player being picked as much as I'm hoping now for Happy :'(. His stream has been the most enjoyable for me and I hope he continues to stream/gets support from someone!

Not sure what is going on outside of the SC bubble CSGO and Hearthstone, at least. Probably some fighting game as well, the only one I know anything about is SSBM.

hearthstone blew past sc2 as soon as it was released and has stayed well above sc2 ever since. CSGO had a slow start but had skyrocketed in the past several months, their last major a couple months ago had like 500k viewers. Meanwhile WCS America Finals pulls in barely 30k viewers (it didnt air at a great time but still) It used to just be LoL and Dota2 that were way above starcraft, but now its several games. The teams are pulling out, there are few controversial and fun personalities to follow now (they've mostly either quit or kind of gone away), very few team houses outside korea it seems, no more talk shows with said personalities, etc. Its just not the same anymore, and to be honest I don't see legacy of the void really changing that.

Good Foreigners always get snatched up Happy will be no exception Sad to see another big team in esports closing it's doors to SC2 maybe they will come back with the release of LotV which I hope is next year.

Looks like Happy just brought down an entire Empire.
|
Another one bites the dust.

Sad, empire seemed to be doing good in SC2 for a long time, gl to both parties in the future.
|
Noo, I hope Happy does ok, but it's pretty sad to see Empire shutdown their SC2 team

You are correct.
The last major tournament had 350k viewers or something ridiculous (I almost want to say 400k, but can't remember if it got that high or not).

Which is incredible, because CS:GO was absolute garbage when it came out, but Valve has listened to its community and has made it an amazing game. Each patch has made the game better and added little new features to both the gameplay and to the interface and really improved the quality of the game. And they didn't even have to wait for an expansion to do it!
Funny how that works.

There are a lot of ex sc2 fans on this forum who are still here for the community or for the hopes that Lotv will miraculously not be so awful. And theres always the smug broodwar fans who hated sc2 before it was cool.

the reason "deadgaem" is warnable is not because it's an opinion against SC2 but because people who say it and repeat it are overwhelmingly obnoxious trolls who want to put others down and make the scene less friendly and amiable
