CSGO is getting bigger and bigger. Soon it is more relevant than SC2.

Why this post got warned? Seriously, if we would drop this attitude of blindly supporting sc2 and made community outcry long ago it would help sc2 through blizzard acknowledging and doing smth. But, no, we have to pretend everything is ok cause we dont want to ruin whats left of sc2, when in reality there is nothing left.

How can you possibly honestly believe that bolded statement? Yea in reality there's nothing left. Yea there's no Supernova stream (which is amazing btw), there's no Jaedong, there's no Flash, there's no proleague, there's no GSL, there's no WCS, there's no tournament every fucking day, there's no KESPA, there's no teams like ROOT, Acer, teamliquid, etc, etc. There's no Dragon, there's no Avilo (lol), there's no Day9, there's no Rotterdam, there's no ToD, there's no Demuslim, there's no Nathanias, there's no Tasteless, there's no Artosis, there's no Wolf, there's no Khaldor, there's no Basetradetv, there's no Fenner, there's no Liquid HerO, there's no Innovation, there's no Solar, there's no Taeja, there's no Livibee, there's no Go4SC2, no Remax, no major tournament every week or every other week, etc, etc, etc. I could go on for ages...There's no nothing. Am I right?
Really?
I don't see any pretending about anything. What I do see is all kinds of trolls constantly hammering about how SC2 is "daed" game and such and this kind of thing is getting REALLY old and annoying. Blizzard is well aware of the current state of SC2 by the way.
All that being said it's nice to see that Empire suggested they're eager to make a resurgence in SC2 if they get the opportunity to do so in the future. Hope everything goes well for Happy!

Happy leaves Empire, Empire leaves SC2
while a little sad, this seems oddly appropriate

Happy is one of the few foreigners i like
Good luck happy. Hope you'll find something that suits you !
|
Happy will find a good team. He has the best foreign terran micro there is. His macro is slipping up from time to time but his micro is outstanding.
|
Wow that's quite surprising. Empire is a great team and I hope they will reopen a sc2 squad once LotV is out. Happy is a good player and I don't think we're ready to see him retire from starcraft . Gl to both Empire and Happy

oh come on, a large portion of sc2 is funded by people who throw money at it assuming a loss, blizzard/TB for example, the scene is hardly self supporting, it may not be dead but we're not far off.

Lol guys, dont be so dramatic. Theres still a ton of tournaments, teams and players. Every day we have at least several tournaments. Theres ton of players on profesional teams being paid to play the game. Remember this is a single player game while the games that draw more viewers are team games (LOL, Dota, CS). But that very virtue they are bound to draw players attention. People love to play with friends, love to blame others for their loses. And love watching same things happening on stream. Theres nothing strange with team games drawing bigger numbers.
On top of that SC2 is hard on players (in terms of shifting the blame and forgiving mistakes) and the gap between pro and avarage joe is much evident and easier to spot. But those are not a bad things, yes they contribute to lowering the player base and therfore viewers. But do we really want a game in which You could take someone off the streat and after a month or two he could compete with pros? I certainly do not. I am fine with SC2 being smaller but more elitist. Dont worry SC2 isnt going to die anytime soon.

by that logic SC2 team games should've been huge, but it's not, the problem is not as much the genre as it is the game itself.

Sad to hear about Happy. Truly one of the top foreigners, and almost the only one in Eastern Europe to stay relevant in top-level recent WCS. I really hope he finds a new team soon.
Regarding Empire leaving SC2, like everyone else i can't say it was unexpected, going down from a very strong roster with Happy, Kas, BeastyQT, Bratok in his good days, even Naniwa, Welmu and some Koreans at one point, to just Happy. It was clear the team was heading into a new direction.
I really don't want to jump on the bandwagon of "sc2 is dieing" that is going on here. OK maybe viewer numbers are down compared to other games, but the community is still very much alive. There's a lot of "grassroots" movement still going on in the community, lots of new teams forming even for amateur status, lots of teamleagues still running, weekly tournaments also very common, even CIS still has a couple of strong teams in Cascade and Vega Squadron. With the new residency requirements probably some strong Koreans will move out of EU, so this could further stimulate the "professional" scene as well, and content creators such as Basetrade TV doing tourneys as well.... Instead of viewer numbers for tourneys i would look at the number of games played on BNET/players on BNET to gauge the current potential of SC2. I bet those are looking alot better, just that not so many people are aware of TL/streams/WCS tournaments etc, they just open their PC and pop SC2 and play afew games.
Hoping that Empire will come back in the future, for LOTV maybe, they seemed a lot like a really serious organization.

These guys are not completely wrong though. Just take the PC Bangs in Korea for example, last time I checked SC 2 was at rank 23. And remember the finals between soO and Solar at DH? It has been said multiple times in the LR, the venue was not well-attended although it was a saturday. Just to name two examples. Right now the state of SC 2 is okay I think, neither at the top nor daed. This seems to be enough to keep going but as soon as Billzard releases Heroes there will be noticable changes in the Sc2 scene.
@ Topic: Not surprising I thought Empire would disband when Kas left the team.

I know but it's annoying to see it every post. We really could just enjoy what we have.

Good luck to Happy, hopefully Empire will return later on.
If viewership is declining it just means us remaining fans who really love Sc2 need to continuously show strong support for the game! Watch the tournaments (which there are still plenty of), introduce the game to friends (without putting MOBAs or other games down), read news and debate etc etc. I can't see the RTS genre dying anytime soon, and I can't see any other RTS anywhere near as good as Sc2 - so I for one believe this game will be around for quite some time

Well unexpected is not really the adequate word, I meant that he was with them for such a long time that seeing "Empire" with Happy's name was kinda normal. A bit like MKP becoming MVPMK. And yeah Fnatic.Happy would be great. He deserves a reputed team

Everyone is praising TvT - when I remember Innovation vs Cure I want to throw up... turtle fest, hell yeah, the best mirror MU, the best MU(by many viewers here). Great. I do not want to see more of this. So, yeah... I prefer not to watch. Also, I don't care 'bout other MU than PvX, because I play Protoss.
I hope Happy doesn't end his career, he's a really good player.
