i have this prevailing hope that somehow the vocal minority of trolls/hipsters/people who genuinely want to play on steppes(??) will not end up being big enough to vote it into the pool

If Bel'shir Vestige is #6 I can even tolerate Steppes of War #7. I'm happy anyway, I can play this map pool for a season. I guess I shouldn't have worried so much and should learn to respect the intelligence of our community as a whole.

And I hope Bel'shir Vestige is the last. This would, amazingly enough, be the first season I wouldn't use all my vetos ^^

Looking through the games to pick a few notable ones, there were almost too many. And I don't mean just "good" games with a lot of action, games there were unforgettable. You've seen the three we put on the list. San vs Nestea, one of the biggest upsets of all-time and a game that really showed the power of Khaydarin Amulet. MVP vs Nestea, an epic back and forth match that also showed the power of Snipe. MMA vs DRG in what was (before Scarlett vs Bomber) considered the greatest game of all-time. Some that didn't make the list but are significant - Boxer (MKP) vs Kyrix when he first showed off some unreal Marine splitting, Idra vs MVP on the ladder which received more attention than many of the tournament games of that time, and White-Ra vs MC in the Korea vs The World matches where he sealed the upset with some great Warp Prism play. There are even more than that, but just looking through the matches it was interesting to see how many significant games happened on Shakuras.

Innovation vs Taeja was better

I thought your post was aimed at the next chosen map and I guessed Habitation Station because so many epic games happened there. I didn't remember so many great games took place on Shakuras. I'm so happy to get the chance to play it on HotS because I'm pretty sure this map has potential, though the one attack path syndrome will certainly be strong here.

Scarlett vs Bomber is still top 5 all time though. The problem for me is I wasn't around the scene for a little while so some maps that were used a lot in 2012 and that area are just not familiar to me. Wish I would know them better

Wish I would know them better i never played competitively until HOTS, but that's WHY i'm excited about the old maps. i've seen them in so many classic vods and associate them with this distant, mystical version of SC2, but now i get to experience them as a competitor. sick :D i've always wanted to play on ohana because it's so pretty

Honestly I doubt that after the 5 great first choices that were made, we'll get XNC + SoW as the two last maps. People who voted for the maps we already got probably voted for Bel'shir Vestige or Whirlwind rather than XNC and SoW. I don't want to call victory too soon but I'm pretty confident the two last maps will be decent too.
