Expected. Only 4 matches and both SKT and IM play twice.

It'll suck if IM doesn't make playoffs, and everyone will write them off completely. In reality they were tragically close to making it each round. But, hopefully this is the round they finally make it! They have pretty good matchups this week, although against tough teams. Will the next protoss bonjwa Ruin lead us to victory?

Wow, KT only using two of the fantastic four in their game. Should be interesting.

That's not how Proleague works, afaik.

Correct, not how it works. Teams need to pay a rather substantial amount to play in team league. TL partnered up with EG to participate in 2012. It did NOT go well.

As for Samsung making the playoffs, it all depends on soO-s form after the GSL final. Also Stork is capable of playing his ass off and Soulkey vs Solar could go either way, but Solar has been superb lately while Soulkey is just decent compared to the Soulkey that signed to SKT last year... It's still a longshot, I'm betting on IM making it . I'd also like to see Reality do some crazy mech against PartinG

IM will defeat kt but will lose against JinAir. I dont see Maru or sOs losing their matches and the ace match will go in favor of JinAir

They'll be either riding the momentum of soO's GSL title, or trying to distract him from his third consecutive GSL finals loss.

Excellent assessment!

oh btw, CJ vs SKT is still a very critical match for the post-season. If CJ wins that they've clinched 1st for this round and the 4th post-season spot. Khan can do absolutely nothing at that point.

IM vs KT and Jin Air are deathmatches for the round 4 playoffs. Winners stay alive, losers are done for the round.

Chance of winning prize money? TV exposure for players? Maybe I'm dumb, but isn't that why SC2 teams exist--to play SC2 and hopefully win? I mean, what's the downside? Risk of being thrown in KeSPA Jail?

Liquid doesn't have a Korean house anymore, Axiom sounds like they're not interested in participating, so really the only team I can see breaking in on this is StarTale as a separate team. With Life, Hack, Curious, Panic they'd still be better than Prime/MVP this season.

Honestly I hope Proleague "encourages" MVP and Prime to join together to participate like IM/ST did this season. With MKP/Creator/DRG/Super they'd have a strong 4-person lineup and guys like SalvatioN, Dream, KeeN and Billowy could swap in.

I'd much rather see both acquire better, bigger sponsors so they can pick up more and better players. Its such a weird cycle, you start out without sponsors, which generally means you don't get a ton of good players, and then not having so many leads to last place (or 2nd), which isn't appealing to sponsors. And it all starts over again. I'd love to see next proleague have a stronger MVP and Prime with a separate ST

Biggest downside is that your players are bound to play in Korea all the time, thus missing out on foreign events which are more attractive exposure wise for foreign teams. You also risk catching flack when you start losing, which any team new to ProLeague willl do inevitably (due to adjusting to the format, not having the same training infrastructure as Kespa teams etc). Non Kespa teams will have close to no benefit in participating tbh, let's hope that there will be a season after the current one and that no team disbands in between.

Well, not to put too fine a point on it, but how many huge tournament runs have we seen from Axiom players recently, aside from Impact at DreamHack? Is it really the case that sending them to individual tournaments gets them and Axiom more exposure? I guess the answer is that being a 5-person team, Axiom couldn't afford to be without more than one player per match, and maybe that's just not feasible given that most of the team plays in WCS AM. Maybe they could consider "allying" with a team like Liquid did with HerO or PKD did with Oz, since Ryung and Impact are now apparently in Korea full-time. Sounds like this is all just wishful thinking, if TB has decided it's not worth it it's obviously not going to happen.

It's a shame participation in Proleague isn't that attractive apparently, since speaking as a fan at least I've had a very good time watching it this season. I'd love to cheer more for Axiom and obviously I can watch them in ATC but ATC just doesn't hold a candle to SPL IMO.

I guess SPL is unattractive for foreign teams, however Proleague is still the most important event for KeSPA teams and their sponsors. In something like DH or IEM you don't have ensured exposure for a team, nor is it consistent exposure over months. That is a big reason why it is so important to sponsors and teams to participate in SPL along with the glory and prestige of being the Proleague Champions.

Well that was basically my point--I'd have thought Axiom and its sponsors would have gotten more consistent exposure both in Korea and abroad playing in SPL regularly even if it comes at the cost of some foreign tournaments. I would think the biggest barrier to teams playing in SPL is the lack of a Korean teamhouse that would allow them to play week-in week-out at live events, which Axiom obviously has. Though they'd probably need to sign a few more players so that they could play even when players are away for WCS AM, and maybe that's just not in the cards.
