Pro Sports players still use any number of homosexual or racial slurs in the heat of battle. But you wait and see the backlash the first time someone uses a slur on Michael Sam.

You then finally get home after that experience, which costs you a fuck load of money, and decide to play some sc2 to get your mind of things and maybe ask for some help with the bills if people are willing. So you're playing and some fat fuck 30 y/o rips on you for asking for help and insults you... Personally I'd want to go to his house and kick his teeth in, but you, me, or anyone else would at least be offended.

Some people are offended by words. Sometimes they get really upset by it and sometimes it causes really harmful things like violence and wars. The whole reductive "Its only words" argument doesn't really work when you think about speech and how powerful it has been throughout history.

Some people are more sensitive than others, and I think its very understandable to think someone might have a higher sensitivity level after just going through a life threatening situation. You can't blame minigun for feeling more vulnerable right now. He didn't ask for the disease, he didn't ask to go through 2 expensive surgeries, he didn't beg for money. He got dealt a shit hand that he has no control over. Even if this whole thing was a big joke (which it wasn't) I think even the most level headed person would agree its "too soon".

If you are able to do that, that is great for you. It will likely make life a lot more relaxed for you. But not everyone has the same ability and you should try to understand their perspective. If someone with arachnophobia gets "attacked" by a spider, you also help them and don't just sit back and relax, knowing, that nothing will happen.

I really think this thread should stop the hunt to destroy ruff though, nothing good will come from it. He did apologize (even if some might not like his apology) and he got punished. He fucked up badly, the apology doesn't change what he did, but at the same time you have to give people a chance to change themselves. Hundreds of people sitting here bashing him into the ground isn't really doing the right thing either.

Could also be, that he just didn't read all ten pages. I've told at least 5 different people in yesterdays LR, that the broadcast begins at 18:00 CET. Have a bit more faith in humanity.
