CJ's GuMiho suffered an unusual accident during a Proleague match, as part of the booth wall fell inward and hit him on the head. After a pause, the game was resumed. Despite the accident, Gumiho was able to beat KT's Zest and secure a 3-1 victory for CJ Entus.
In a post match interview with Inven, Gumiho said "I was really surprised. After that, all I could think was that I needed to pause the game immediately. It didn't hurt that much, but it caught me off guard... ...I wanted to resume the game quickly. Still, having a little break calmed me down, and it helped me play."

Poor Gumi Bear, looks worst and worst everytime you see it!

I'm impressed Gumiho was able to come back and win after that bizarre occurrence. It seems that the wall collapsing didn't boother him too much.
|
Well, shit happens. Nothing to yell about. Still funny though^^

Any apology from KeSPA or money (compensation) to Gumiho due to this accident?

Pretty strong of him to keep his concentration together and still win after that. It would (quite literally) knock your focus a bit.

Why not? This is dangerous

Who gets the penalty points now, kespa?

He was actually playing very good after the resume. Maybe he should have someone smack him with a board on the head before each match. No, honestly... nice to see he wasn't injured too badly.

I doubt there'll be compensation, an apology maybe. KeSPA ran straight in there with a medical team to make sure he was ok to continue playing. Technically it's not KeSPA's fault, they're not the ones who own the Arena.

We have destructable rocks for years and now destructable booths! I am looking forward in LotV.

Old KeSPA would find a way to give him a penalty point.

Falls under the category of "shit happens" you can't avoid every ACCIDENT in the world.
If he was in need of medical treatment I'd agree but it's pretty clear it wasn't that bad.

I don't see what's wrong with asking for compensation for the accident. It doesn't have to be money, it could be vouchers, sweets (candies for Americans), anything nice rather than plain "sorry".

It's not wrong, just a bit silly. As if people are entitled to not have anything wrong and unexpected ever happen to them and deserve compensation when it does. Shit happens and it happens to everyone.

Is this also "shit happens"? I understand it's an accident on a larger scale, but when a thing which isn't your property hits you or causes damage, then "shit happens" isn't good enough. In other words, if it was your fault or responsibility, then yes, "shit happens". Otherwise, no.

But it didn't cause damage, whereas the ferry incident caused multiple deaths and has layer upon layer of incompetence and misconduct as factors. If Gumiho had been injured in any way, permanently unable to play or at least hospitalized, then compensation would have been on the table. But nothing happened. Comparing it to the ferry incident is very stupid.

Otherwise, no. this comparison is so absurd it borders on offensive. that's a situation where people are being investigated for gross and premeditated negligence that caused the loss of a fucking boat and hundreds of lives. this is a portable wall falling over during a computer game tournament.
here's the reason he can't and shouldn't sue, and this should end this ridiculous argument: suing for negligence in this case assumes that the studio didn't fulfill their safety responsibilities, and there's no evidence that this is the case. it's 100% possible to fulfill the minimum safety standards and for something bad to still happen. this is called margin of error. it's the same reason there's a codified amount of insect parts and rat feces that can be present in the food you buy: because it's literally impossible to uphold "perfect" safety and still run a fiscally viable business
ok? are we done with this argument now?

It depends where you live. In Denmark for instance, it is only possible to sue for tort if there is an actual loss, regardless of how badly the situation turned out. South Korean law is largely based off German law, so i would assume that is is far more civil than American law.

Still wins after suffering a concussion (probably didn't suffer a concussion), what a boss.

If Gumihos is a boss he'll show up to the next match wearing a motorcycle helmet.

I doubt there'll be compensation, an apology maybe. KeSPA ran straight in there with a medical team to make sure he was ok to continue playing. Technically it's not KeSPA's fault, they're not the ones who own the Arena. They are the ones who put the players in there, so I think it really is.
